The Facility and Production Manager at Asheville Tea Company is a member of the management team and is responsible for managing the on-site production facility and equipment, ensuring that production goals are met safely and efficiently, providing leadership to the in-house production team, and maintaining high quality standards while helping to drive the company toward our overall growth goals. Production Team, Production Assistants Primary Duties:
Oversee the on-sight facility and equipment, including equipment general maintenance and upkeep, and managing other facility projects and upkeep. Takes point on management of the Tea Bag Machine and other production equipment; create workflow and scheduling of equipment operations. Ensure that finished products are consistently kept in stock across all SKUs, working closely with other managers and production team. Develop action plans for achieving set target. Organize production workflow and schedule staff to meet product specifications and production deadlines Provide excellent team leadership for the production team Ensure scheduling of the production team is completed in advance and well communicated to all parties Oversee production of tea products Train additional production staff on use of the tea machine(s) and oversee those operations, including scheduling, support, leadership and supervision of staff for these tasks. May blend or package tea to implement production plans Work in tandem with managers on the hiring and training of production personnel. Train production team in processes and workflow, and effectively delegate tasks. May take point on hiring new and/or Seasonal Production Assistants Promote staff development according to interests and abilities, considering efficient use of time and skillsets. Provide active on-site leadership, feedback or performance reviews as needed and support systems for production team staff. Assess areas for improving the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of production processes Write or update SOPs and training procedures for production and keep these up to date. Establish staff training in and maintenance of appropriate sanitary gear and procedures for health and safety standards Oversee the cleaning, maintenance, installment, repair and/or replacement of production equipment and production spaces to ensure smooth work operations Prepare periodic reports to update the rest for the management team on production activities (including scheduled TEAm Meetings; report on key metrics, wins, challenges, needs from the group, new ideas, etc.) Collaborate with team to ensure all company regulations and government legislations are in compliance, including
NCDA, FDA
regulations Take point on projects as needed, including equipment setup, spacial setup for production department, system improvements, contractor quotes, etc. and may assist with permitting logistics for various projects. Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge Requirement Prior experience in management and strong leadership skills, ability to effectively communicate with and motivate a team Ability to assist in active development and implementation of values-centered, positive company culture and positive work environment Knowledge of production / manufacturing systems and workflows, ideally with a background in herbal, food & beverage or natural products manufacturing Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations PCQI and/or similar training Experience with Lean Manufacturing is a plus Experience in reporting on key performance indicator metrics Proficient in Google Suite and able to learn company software systems (knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and ideally experience working with inventory software systems and applications) Outstanding communication ability Excellent organizational skills Strong attention to detail Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach BSc/Ba in relevant field is preferred
