A Facilities Specialist or Coordinator is in charge of building and equipment maintenance, building security systems, emergency plans, often for specific buildings only. May be involved in planning of new facilities. Acts as contact person between employees and outside contractors.

Division:
Facilities Maintenance Services provide proactive maintenance, make repairs, coordinate renovations, and incorporate life-cycle management for all City facilities. As a Building Maintenance Specialist you will work alongside other maintenance professionals to ensure the City buildings are maintained to a high level. The salary posted is the full salary range for this position. The starting salary is expected to be in the range of $38,078.51 - $49,502.06 depending on experience and education. Performing building maintenance and repair work; remodeling buildings; performing preventative maintenance tasks. (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Assists with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, lighting, masonry and related building maintenance work. Assists with building rooms and additions and remodeling existing rooms/buildings. Picks up and delivers materials to job site. Unstops commodes; repairs leaks; changes wax seals, flush valves and vacuum breaker. Changes light bulbs. Cleans and changes filters; checks belts on motors. Moves office furniture, computer paper; helps install computer wire. Performs related tasks as required. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
