Position:
Facilities Supervisor Reports to: Nursery Manager Description The Facilities Supervisor is accountable for keeping Plantworks Nursery's facilities, greenhouse infrastructure, equipment, utilities, and grounds safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations. This role leads facilities-related work, plans preventive maintenance, coordinates repairs and improvement projects, manages contractors and maintenance records, and responds to urgent facility or equipment needs. The Facilities Supervisor proactively identifies issues before they disrupt operations, communicates priorities and risks to the Nursery Manager, supports other nursery areas as needed, and is available on call outside normal business hours.   • Lead employees assigned to maintenance or facilities work, set priorities, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for facilities, greenhouse systems, vehicles, equipment, utilities, and grounds.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify wear, safety concerns, and potential failures before operations are disrupted.
  • Maintain and repair nursery trucks, tractors, forklifts, and other vehicles and equipment; coordinate outside service and required annual inspections.
  • Maintain and repair greenhouse structures, fans, louvers, electrical components, nursery buildings, and other structures; coordinate improvements as needed.
  • Maintain pumps, injection systems, production equipment, and other mechanical systems; troubleshoot and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Maintain and repair irrigation systems and related infrastructure; coordinate and complete irrigation improvement projects.
  • Manage greenhouse poly replacement schedules and installation or removal of shade coverings.
  • Maintain heating systems, propane supply, and generators to ensure seasonal readiness and reliable operation; complete routine maintenance and coordinate service as needed.
  • Coordinate contractors and vendors for repairs, renovations, construction, and other projects, including scope, scheduling, progress, and completion.
  • Conduct annual tractor training and train new employees as needed; keep training materials current and documentation complete.
  • Maintain required safety postings, identify and correct facility-related hazards, and continually improve workplace safety.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of tools, parts, fuel, and maintenance supplies; order and pick up needed items in a timely manner.
  • Keep equipment sheds, maintenance areas, and storage spaces clean, safe, and organized.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair history, inspection records, and training documentation in an accessible format.
  • Maintain a rolling calendar of repairs and improvements with budget estimates; communicate priorities, risks, and operational concerns to the Nursery Manager or Owner.
  • Support nursery grounds and infrastructure, including roadways, weed control, beautification, and special projects directed by the Management Team. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (requirements) Team Leadership and Supervision
