1.0 FTE non-exempt - 12-month contract evaluated for renewal annually Major Position Responsibilities As part of a facilities team, this position is charged with providing a clean, comfortable, and safe structural environment within Oak Hill School's facilities and grounds to support the educational mission of Oak Hill School on our 72-acre campus. Essential Functions Assists supporting the safety, health and quality education of students and employees in school facilities and grounds. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects. Follows directions and establishes routines in the proper use of materials and supplies as directed by the Facilities Director. May support all phases of custodial services to provide a litter-free, clean, and good appearance both inside and outside of school buildings.

This may include:

• Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs, polishes and waxes floor coverings as needed.
• Dusts and cleans offices and classrooms.
• Cleans and stocks restrooms and is responsible for building sanitation.
• Collects and appropriately disposes of trash and recyclable materials.
• Cleans sidewalks and performs manual labor incident to lawn and garden maintenance.
• Keeps watch on property and grounds.
• Completes repair work on buildings or equipment and/or assists other personnel in such work. Performs preventative maintenance, minor repair, and installation in connection with:
• Electrical, plumbing, appliances, equipment, and HVAC systems
• Exterior and interior of buildings Routinely checks control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues. Completes regular inspections and maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs. Inspects and troubleshoots issues in connection with:
• Electrical, plumbing, appliances, equipment, and HVAC systems
• Exterior and interior of buildings Tests the functionality of the campus safety systems.

Collaborates with a team of facilities workers and other professionals during facilities projects, renovations, and expansions. Proactively communicates and reports to the Director of Facilities regarding the resolution of issues, items needing attention, and tasks currently in progress. May assist with grounds maintenance including: o Mowing o Tree Trimming (fruit and other) o Baseball field maintenance o Gravel parking maintenance o Weeding and general landscape maintenance. Moves office, classroom furniture, equipment, and supplies as required. Assures campus safety during inclement weather to include shoveling, salting, applying slip protection, and debris removal. Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor. Education and Experience Required.

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a maintenance worker or similar position. Professional Competencies
• This position must demonstrate a professional demeanor and speaking manner. This position interacts daily with students, faculty, and administration on Oak Hill School's campus.
• Must have essential physical and mental capabilities in the follow: interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, follow directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, simple mathematics, organizing and proactive decision making.
• Lifts and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work at heights up to 20 feet from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
• Ability to work in a squatting, kneeling and standing position for an extended period.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of cleaning chemicals, using personal protective equipment as deemed necessary by the product manufactures.
• Ability to understand, research, apply and complies with all local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Ability to work in outside weather conditions. It is expected the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infections materials or illnesses during their duties as school building and grounds maintenance specialist.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles including truck and golf cart. Must have valid Oregon Drivers License and insurable drivers record.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to obtain a first aid/cpr certification within 60 days of hire.

Working Environment:

• Requires light work that involves walking or standing most of the time.
• May be required to supervise outside activities in inclement weather.
• This position must speak, read, write, and communicate clearly in the English language.
• This position may be required to lift to 20lbs.
• The job requires frequent sitting, walking, and standing and applicants must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
• This position is required to work on-site; the duties of the position cannot be completed via remote.
