Distinguishing features of the class : An employee in this classification is responsible for performing custodial and sanitation duties to provide clean, sanitary, and safe facilities for the district and the general public. This position may also perform minor maintenance and repair work at district facilities and surrounding grounds. Work is performed under the general supervision of direct supervisor with day-to-day direction from facility coordinator. Work is reviewed based primarily on the basis of results attained, feedback from facility users/patrons, and direct observation. Supervision is not normally a responsibility of a position in this classification.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES PERFORMED

: (Illustrative only. Any single position of a class will not necessarily involve all the duties listed, and many positions will involve duties that are not listed.) Perform cleaning, janitorial, and sanitation duties on assigned facilities, ground, and park restrooms. Perform basic grounds and park maintenance including trash removal, unclogging drains, minor landscaping, mowing, maintaining sidewalks and entryways, snow removal, etc. Perform minor maintenance of facilities including fixing leaky faucets, unclogging sinks, drains, and toilets, replacing light bulbs, repairing locks, painting, etc.; submit work order requests for necessary repairs. Implement and document cleaning and annual maintenance schedule for facilities; perform necessary work and maintain appropriate records. Clean and report graffiti, vandalism, and other incidents. Track and document routine and preventative maintenance on facility systems and vehicles; notifies supervisor of concerns and makes recommendations (ex. HVAC, fire system, fire extinguishers, etc.). Ensure facility, grounds, parks, and vehicles remain in compliance with district standards; notifies supervisor of safety concerns immediately. Ability to work flexible hours when necessary due to a facility emergency, inclement weather, or district need.

• Attend all department and district-wide staff meetings and trainings. Provide excellent internal and external customer service through professional communication. Create a positive experience for staff and patrons through professional and courteous behavior and effective problem-solving resolution.
• Act as a mandatory reporter and reports suspected cases of abuse and neglect to the appropriate authorities, including direct supervisor.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge :

Knowledge of the custodial and parks services methods and procedures.

Skills :

The use of cleaning and landscaping equipment. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.

Abilities :

Work independently; exercise initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities; understand and follow written and oral instructions; lift and move office furniture; establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and patrons. Physical demands of the position : While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch, often in conjunction with reaching for and manipulating objects. This position requires the employee to stand and/or walk for over 90% of the work period. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to 75 pounds on a regular basis such as boxes, bags, small equipment, etc. and may occasionally require the employee to move or manipulate materials heavier than 100 pounds with the assistance of a dolly or cart. Manual dexterity and coordination, including but not limited to grasping and squeezing, are required for the vast majority of the work period. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, thus exposure to temperature or weather extremes is possible. Exposure to loud noise is moderate and occasionally requires the use of ear protection. Experience and training : High school diploma or equivalent, and two years of experience in facility or park services, public works, or related field; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the above-described duties. Necessary special requirements : Possession of or ability to obtain current first aid and CPR certificates within 30 days of hire; possession of or ability to obtain valid Oregon driver's license and safe driving record 30 days of hire; ability to pass a criminal background check.
