Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Facilities Management & Environmental Services to lead the operation, maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of our healthcare campus. This leadership position is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day oversight of facility operations, plant maintenance, utilities management, construction and renovation projects, life safety compliance, grounds, and Environmental Services (EVS). The Director will ensure the hospital's physical environment supports outstanding patient care while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with experience in healthcare facilities management, life safety compliance, team development, and operational excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Facilities Management Direct all maintenance, engineering, utilities, building systems, and grounds operations. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for facility infrastructure and equipment. Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, emergency power, medical gas, and life safety systems. Manage facility renovation, construction, and capital improvement projects. Monitor facility performance and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Ensure compliance with applicable building, fire, safety, and environmental regulations. Maintain documentation required for regulatory surveys and inspections. Environmental Services Direct housekeeping, linen, waste management, and environmental services operations. Establish and maintain cleaning standards that support infection prevention initiatives. Ensure patient, visitor, and employee areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and professional manner. Monitor departmental quality metrics and implement corrective actions as necessary. Collaborate with Infection Prevention and Nursing leadership to maintain a healing environment. Leadership & Compliance Develop, mentor, and evaluate Facilities and EVS team members. Prepare and manage departmental operating and capital budgets. Participate in Environment of Care, Safety, Emergency Management, and Infection Prevention committees. Lead emergency preparedness, utility failure response, and disaster recovery efforts. Serve as a key resource during accreditation, licensing, and regulatory surveys. Maintain compliance with CMS, OSHA, Joint Commission, PA Department of Health, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience in facilities management, engineering, plant operations, or support services. Demonstrated supervisory and budget management experience. Knowledge of life safety codes, building systems, and healthcare regulatory requirements. Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Preferred Healthcare facility leadership experience. Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification. Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification. Experience with Joint Commission, CMS, and Department of Health surveys. Project management and construction oversight experience. Physical Requirements Ability to navigate all areas of the hospital campus. Ability to respond to emergency situations on-site. Ability to lift and carry materials as needed. Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, utility areas, and various environmental conditions.
