Job Description

Physician Services Group (PSG) is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to support the daily operations of our Post-Acute Care facility in Sumter, SC . This full-time, in-person position is critical to ensuring coordinated, high-quality care alongside our Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner. The MA will play a key role in increasing provider efficiency and supporting seamless patient transitions within a skilled nursing or assisted living environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Obtain daily nursing reports on acute patients and medication refill needs Schedule and coordinate provider visits (MD/NP) based on Medicare guidelines Input new patient data (demographics and insurance) into the EMR Serve as liaison with facility administration, therapists, and social workers Collect and manage reports: DME, prior auths, labs, radiology, insurance verifications Assist with new admissions, including data transcription into EMR via voice recognition Enter daily vitals into EMR system Coordinate discharge planning with providers and facility staff Support referrals and follow-ups with hospitals and specialists Print and file encounters on patient charts at the facility Make courtesy follow-up calls to families post-discharge eFax discharge summaries to primary and specialty care providers Submit electronic prescriptions under provider supervision Uphold HIPAA standards and maintain professional communication at all times
Qualifications:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Associate degree in a medical field required (Bachelor's preferred) Minimum 2 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, or hospital setting Strong understanding of medical terminology, EMR systems, and care coordination Familiarity with coding, DME documentation, and discharge processes Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Passion for supporting high-quality, patient-centered care
Schedule:
Monday-Friday (day shift) In-person only | No remote work Flexible hours may be required based on provider scheduling
