Facilities Manager Bijou Theatre Center Type:
Full-Time, Salaried Salary:
$60,000-$65,000 annually, dependent on experience
Schedule:
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require. Position Summary The Facility Manager is responsible for managing the maintenance, cleanliness, and day-to-day operations within the Facilities Department of the Bijou Theatre. This role focuses on organizing work, communicating needs, and ensuring contractor and custodial tasks are completed, all in support of the core mission and operational needs of the Bijou Theatre. The Facility Manager will receive on-the-job training and support and will work closely with the General Manager, technical staff, and outside vendors. The position supervises the Head Custodian and custodial staff. The Facility Manager position is full-time with flexible hours. Working evenings and weekends are sometimes required, along with being on-call after work hours. Responsibilities may expand over time as familiarity with the building and its processes grows. This is a full-time position. Evening, weekend, holiday, and occasional on-call availability are required. Key Responsibilities Ensure the facility is maintained to a high standard, including compliance with applicable building codes, health regulations, and safety requirements. Coordinate and oversee contractors performing work related to general building maintenance, HVAC, electrical systems, fire alarm systems, elevators, pest control, security systems, emergency lighting, utilities, waste management, and other facility needs. Monitor work for quality, timeliness, and completion. Maintain and continuously improve a comprehensive preventative maintenance program that supports both immediate operational needs and the long-term preservation of the facility. Coordinate routine inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance for all major building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pumps, motors, elevators, and associated controls. Report facility-related IT and telecommunications issues to organizational leadership for resolution. Perform routine maintenance tasks including changing HVAC filters, replacing light bulbs, and completing minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and repair work. Coordinate qualified contractors when work exceeds internal capabilities. Participate in approved professional development and facility management training opportunities. Supervise custodial staff to ensure the building remains clean, safe, and presentation-ready for all within and utilizing the facility. Maintain inventory levels for custodial and facility supplies. Monitor utility usage and identify practical opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings. Track maintenance, repair, and facilities-related expenditures while assisting leadership in developing annual operating and capital budgets. Support capital improvement projects by coordinating contractor access, scheduling work, assisting with documentation, invoicing, and project reporting. Serve as a building key holder and respond to facility emergencies outside of normal business hours when necessary. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; trade school or associate degree preferred. Minimum two years of relevant facilities, maintenance, building operations, or related experience. Working knowledge of building maintenance practices including painting, plumbing, carpentry, and equipment repair. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work professionally with staff, contractors, public agencies, and vendors. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems with minimal supervision. Safety-minded with a strong attention to detail. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and safely work at heights up to 75 feet using approved lifts or other equipment. Willingness to develop an increasing knowledge of building systems, maintenance best practices, and applicable building codes. Commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct, and fostering an inclusive workplace. Experience working in historic buildings or with preservation projects is preferred but not required.
