Commercial & Government Facility Services Job Summary JMPlus Services LLC is seeking an experienced, bilingual Area Operations Manager to oversee our municipal janitorial contracts in Ogden and Clearfield, Utah . This is a hands-on management position for someone who takes ownership of operations. The Area Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all assigned facilities are properly staffed, cleaned to JMPlus and client standards, supplied with required consumable products, inspected regularly, and prepared for daily operations. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in the commercial cleaning/facility services industry , preferably managing government, municipal, institutional, or other multi-site contracts , and is fluent in both English and Spanish . This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly when operational issues or emergencies arise. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily and nightly janitorial operations across multiple facilities in Ogden and Clearfield. Conduct nightly quality-control inspections and ensure cleaning meets contract requirements and JMPlus quality standards. Manage employee schedules, shift assignments, call-outs, PTO, and coverage. Personally assist with coverage when necessary to ensure client locations are never left without service. Maintain an active pool of reliable backup employees for unexpected absences and staffing changes. Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train new custodial employees when needed. Train employees on cleaning procedures, safety, equipment, chemicals, security requirements, and client-specific expectations. Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, retraining, and corrective action when necessary. Ensure facilities maintain adequate inventories of toilet paper, paper towels, soap, trash liners, and other required consumable supplies , and coordinate replenishment before shortages occur. Track employee hours, review timekeeping records, and assist in resolving clock-in/out and payroll-related discrepancies. Help employees troubleshoot company technology, mobile applications, timekeeping systems, and other operational tools. Maintain employee compliance with company policies, OSHA/safety requirements, SDS procedures, background/security requirements, and client-specific rules. Respond to urgent client requests and operational emergencies, with the ability to respond or coordinate an appropriate on-site response within one hour when required . Investigate client complaints immediately, implement corrective actions, and verify that deficiencies have been resolved. Prepare professional inspection reports, incident reports, corrective-action reports, staffing updates, and other management documentation. Communicate professionally with government facility representatives and JMPlus leadership. Track recurring quality issues and develop solutions to prevent them from happening again. Maintain equipment readiness and coordinate repairs or replacement when equipment problems could affect service. Participate in facility walkthroughs and meetings with clients as required.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have:
5+ years of experience in commercial janitorial, custodial, or facility services. Previous supervisory or management experience overseeing cleaning employees and multiple locations. Experience working with government, municipal, institutional, or similarly demanding commercial clients strongly preferred. Fluency in English and Spanish — speaking, reading, and communicating professionally in both languages. Demonstrated experience with employee scheduling, training, hiring, quality control, and performance management. Strong understanding of professional cleaning procedures, chemicals, equipment, SDS requirements, and workplace safety. Strong computer and smartphone skills. Ability to write clear and professional reports and emails. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel regularly between Ogden and Clearfield facilities. Ability to work evenings/nights as required for inspections and operational oversight. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including nights or weekends when necessary. Ability and willingness to perform custodial work personally when emergency coverage is necessary. Facilities are staffed, employees know their responsibilities, supplies are available, inspections are completed, deficiencies are corrected before they become complaints, and emergencies are handled quickly and professionally. You will be expected to know what is happening across your assigned facilities and take ownership of resolving operational issues from beginning to completion.
