Job Description

Position Overview:
The Facility Engineer supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mission-critical data center infrastructure. The role may focus on electrical, HVAC/mechanical, or low-voltage systems and is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, operational risk control, infrastructure improvement, and coordination with onsite teams and service vendors. The engineer is expected to work closely with facility operations, project teams, contractors, and other technical stakeholders to maintain high system availability, support planned and emergency activities, and continuously improve site operating standards. The position also plays an important role in frontline technical coaching, documentation, and knowledge transfer. Key Responsibilities (Electrical / HVAC / Low Voltage): Operate, monitor, and maintain data center electrical, HVAC/mechanical, or low-voltage systems in accordance with site procedures and maintenance requirements. Execute and track preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring scheduled work is completed safely, accurately, and on time. Diagnose equipment alarms, abnormal operating conditions, and system faults; coordinate troubleshooting and drive issues through resolution and closure. Monitor critical infrastructure performance and identify potential risks related to safety, capacity, availability, reliability, and operating efficiency. Support capacity planning and utilization reviews for critical infrastructure, and provide technical input on expansion, optimization, or replacement needs. Participate in daily site inspections, equipment checks, operating-data reviews, and other routine activities required to maintain facility readiness. Support implementation of site operating procedures, maintenance standards, emergency operating procedures (EOPs), and change-management requirements. Assist with risk assessments and method-of-procedure reviews for maintenance, repair, upgrade, and retrofit activities involving critical systems. Coordinate onsite work performed by vendors and contractors, including work preparation, access coordination, safety compliance, execution monitoring, and completion verification. Participate in commissioning, testing, system turnover, equipment replacement, and infrastructure improvement projects as assigned. Work with cross-functional teams to investigate recurring equipment or operational issues, identify root causes, and implement practical corrective or preventive actions. Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment information, work logs, inspection results, and other technical documentation required by the site or client. Help improve operational procedures, maintenance plans, checklists, and technical documentation based on lessons learned and site operating experience. Provide technical guidance, practical training, and knowledge sharing to frontline technicians and other operations personnel. Support site audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and operational readiness assessments, and assist with closure of identified findings. Communicate clearly with facility management, operations teams, project stakeholders, and vendors regarding system status, risks, work progress, and required follow-up actions. Carry out additional operational or project assignments requested by the client or project management team. Respond promptly during critical coverage periods, high-priority events, or emergency incidents and provide onsite support when required by the project team.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Building Systems, Automation, Facilities Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered. Relevant experience in data center operations, critical facilities, building engineering, MEP systems, industrial facilities, or another high-availability technical environment is preferred. Working knowledge in at least one major facility discipline—electrical power, HVAC/mechanical systems, or low-voltage/building systems—with the ability to collaborate across other facility disciplines. Familiarity with preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, operational risk control, work permits, change management, and incident response in a technical facility environment. Ability to read and interpret operating procedures, equipment manuals, single-line diagrams, system drawings, or other technical documentation relevant to the assigned discipline. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and follow-through skills, with the ability to identify risks and escalate critical issues appropriately. Strong safety awareness and the ability to follow site safety rules, operating procedures, and client requirements while working around mission-critical equipment. Effective communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to coordinate with operations personnel, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and remain effective in a fast-paced, uptime-sensitive environment. Professional English proficiency appropriate for onsite communication, technical coordination, and documentation is required. Mandarin Chinese communication skills are a strong plus, particularly for cross-regional collaboration, but are not a mandatory qualification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior hands-on experience supporting data centers, critical facilities, cloud infrastructure sites, telecommunications facilities, or other 24/7 mission-critical environments. Experience with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, PDUs, cooling systems, BMS, EPMS, fire/life-safety systems, access-control infrastructure, or related critical-facility equipment, depending on the assigned discipline. Experience coordinating maintenance vendors, equipment manufacturers, contractors, or onsite project activities. Experience participating in incident investigation, root-cause analysis (RCA), equipment commissioning, infrastructure upgrades, or operational improvement initiatives. Relevant technical certifications or trade credentials are a plus. Flexibility to provide onsite support outside normal business hours when required for planned critical work or emergency response.
