Facilities & Grounds Assistant Tierra Learning Center Status:

$23-$27 / hour

In-person, on-site position (within 15 minute drive from Leavenworth, WA) About Tierra Learning Center Tierra Learning Center is a nonprofit organization nestled in the Wenatchee Valley near Leavenworth, Washington, dedicated to empowering people of all abilities to lead meaningful lives and reach their fullest potential. Our interconnected community of programs is built on a shared culture of stewardship, inclusion, education, and positive growth. Tierra Learning Center's mission is carried out through three core programs for adults with developmental disabilities — Coyote House (an Adult Family Home), the Trails Day Program (a "continuing education" day program), and Employment Services — surrounded by a rich campus that includes a Retreat Center, Mountain Sprouts Preschool, 40-acre organic farm, Tierra Ceramics Studio, and 220 acres of forest land. Maintaining this vibrant, multi-use campus is central to delivering on our mission every day. Position Summary The Facilities & Grounds Assistant is responsible for assisting with day-to-day upkeep, repair and enhancement projects. Duties wide ranging and may include basic repair and construction, grounds-keeping, equipment operation and all manner of physical labor. Works closely with Facilities Manager to learn and record major systems and seasonal workflow responsibilities.



The ideal candidate is a versatile, self-directed individual who takes pride in keeping a mission-driven campus running safely and efficiently — and who understands that their work directly supports the people we serve.

Key Responsibilities Essential Functions:
  • Facilities maintenance and repair
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Vehicle and Equipment upkeep, maintenance
  • Snow Removal
  • Occasional on call for facility emergencies
  • Retreat center guest assistance / occasional weekend shifts Grounds & Campus Management Maintain roadways, trails, pathways, parking areas, and landscaped grounds throughout the seasons Mowing and irrigation, including hay field operations Manage winter tasks including snow removal and weather-related campus preparation Support the Agricultural and Environmental Stewardship programs with equipment and infrastructure needs Qualifications Required Basic to intermediate mechanical knowledge Ability to operate farm or agricultural equipment Experience with light construction, carpentry, or general building maintenance Valid Washington State driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting up to 80 lbs, operating equipment, and working outdoors in variable weather Basic computer literacy including spreadsheet use Availability for on-call/after-hour critical repair needs Preferred Experience maintaining recreational trails or ski trail systems Comfort working in a mission-driven, inclusive environment alongside people with disabilities Experience in a nonprofit or community-based organization setting Compensation & Benefits •
Compensation:

$$23-$27 / hour

    Benefits:

    Medical insurance stipend; 11 paid holidays annually; Paid Time Off with regular scheduled increase; matching contribution to employer sponsored IRA plan.

      Schedule:

      Approximately 32-40 hours per week with majority of hours M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Minor/infrequent on-call/after hours required.
