Job Summary:

The Yard Equipment Operator is responsible for safely moving, loading, and unloading materials using forklifts and/or other types of equipment in a manufacturing setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Load, rig steel joists and/or girders on trailers as assigned. Assist with loading and unloading material in shop as needed. Assist with steel joist bundles and yard layout as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Adhere to safety protocols. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Regular, reliable, punctual and consistent attendance. Must be able to work regular and/or flexible hours or shifts, overtime, weekends as required.

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS

Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferred. Minimum of 6 months experience operating a forklift, preferred. Ability to pass internal forklift certification. Ability to read and understand loading requisitions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent communication with others to exchange information. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles Frequent repetition of motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Frequent moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Frequent lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions. Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Constantly thinking and processing information. Constantly maintaining concentration and focus on tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing floor with machinery. Exposure to airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold. Use of personal protection equipment is required.
