Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Job Summary This position is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count lumber. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle within the yard.
Main Responsibilities:
Removes the finished goods and transports to storage area Empties the kilns Transports laths and other things Perform pre and post shift inspections of the equipment Examine and inspect equipment daily for wear or defects, reporting any damage Clean and maintain equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities Keep records on the use or damage of stock or stock-handling equipment Scans lumber packages according to work instructions Provide assistance to other workers as needed Follow safety and work procedures Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma Preferred Minimum of 3 years' forklift or heavy equipment experience preferred Valid driver's license required Attention to detail Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to learn procedures and policies Must be dependable and show ability to take direction Able to work flexible schedules and long hours Perform essential functions of job that includes walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; must be able to sit, stand, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or crawl occasionally Frequent lifting/moving of items that may range in weight up to 50 pounds Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts Exposed to hot, cold, wet or humid conditions
