Job Description
Hiring a Forklift Operator in East York! Job Description This role supports a busy structural steel shop by safely handling, sorting, and moving materials using forklifts and overhead cranes. You will load and unload trucks, maneuver materials throughout the facility, and ensure parts are staged correctly to keep production flowing smoothly. Responsibilities Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to maneuver materials safely throughout the facility. Load and unload trucks with structural and miscellaneous steel materials. Sort, stage, and organize parts and materials according to job requirements and production schedules. Use tape measures accurately, including reading measurements down to 1/32", to verify material dimensions. Support structural and miscellaneous steel production by ensuring materials are delivered to the correct workstations on time. Work closely with welders, layout/fitters, and weld inspectors to ensure materials are available to meet job deadlines. Use basic computer skills to track materials, update records, or follow work instructions as needed. Operate yard equipment such as yard jockey or similar material-moving equipment, when required. Essential Skills Proven experience operating forklifts in an industrial or shop environment. Proven experience operating overhead cranes to move materials safely. Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/32". Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools and materials in a production shop. Basic computer skills to support material tracking and shop workflows. Ability to read and follow blueprints or layout instructions. Experience with material handling in a structural or industrial setting. Shift Monday
