Job Description
Shipping Forklift Operator - Full‑Time (Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM-5:30 PM) A great fit for an experienced forklift operator who enjoys fast‑paced, team‑driven warehouse work. You'll operate a sit‑down and 2‑prong forklift for most of your shift while supporting order picking, staging, and outbound shipping in a clean, climate‑controlled distribution environment. Key Responsibilities Operate sit‑down and 2‑prong forklifts safely and efficiently (≈70% of shift) Pick and prepare customer orders using RF scanners and WMS systems Load outbound shipments, including 53' trailers , ensuring proper weight distribution and securement Verify orders for accuracy, quantity, and required documentation Perform shipping/receiving tasks: staging, labeling, organizing freight Shrink wrap, break down, and rebuild pallets for safe transport Track inventory and product movement using RF scanning equipment Follow food‑grade handling procedures when required Maintain a clean, organized, and safety‑focused work environment Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members Support general warehouse duties as needed Qualifications Required Experience operating sit‑down forklifts in warehouse/distribution settings Experience with order picking, shipping, and receiving Familiarity with RF scanners and WMS Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly Strong attention to detail and accuracy Reliable attendance and punctuality Monday-Friday schedule: 9:00 AM-5:30 PM Reliable transportation Preferred Current forklift certification (or ability to obtain) Experience loading 53' trailers Background in food distribution or material handling Experience operating 2‑prong forklifts General warehouse experience (picking, packing, staging) Why Join Us Steady, long‑term work with consistent scheduling Opportunities for advancement and skill growth Supportive leadership and experienced team Clean, climate‑controlled warehouse environment Work Environment Climate‑controlled distribution facility Mix of forklift operation and hands‑on warehouse tasks Fast‑paced, safety‑driven environment Structured schedule supporting work‑life balance Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
