Forklift Operator (Sit-Down) text 8 4 7 5 8 0 2 8 1 4 if interested Job Description Join a highly motivated production team in a brand-new, state-of-the-art greenfield facility as a Clamp Truck/Forklift Operator. In this role, you safely and efficiently move corrugated packaging products from production lines to trailers, ensuring loads meet customer requirements and arrive damage free. You work in a fast-paced, flexible manufacturing environment where safety, quality, integrity, teamwork, customer satisfaction, ownership, and productivity are core values. Responsibilities Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, including clamp trucks, to move product from production lines to trailers. Pass and maintain qualification on the company's Forklift Test to operate material handling equipment safely and correctly. Read and interpret loading summary manifest sheets to ensure accurate product distribution and trailer loading. Use RF scanning systems to identify, track, and verify product for shipment and warehouse movements. Palletize product for shipment when required, following customer-specific pallet requirements and pallet types. Load trailers according to customer specifications to ensure damage-free shipping, using appropriate load stabilization materials and methods. Handle various unit configurations carefully to prevent damage to product and packaging during movement and loading. Meet company quality assurance standards when handling, staging, and loading product. Report high-risk product and load-related concerns promptly to the Team Lead or Warehouse Manager. Report problems with loads, product, or equipment to leadership and work collaboratively to resolve issues. Complete and maintain required paperwork and documentation for pallet check-off and product movement. Conduct pre-operation forklift inspections and tag out defective equipment according to safety procedures. Pull orders accurately for warehouse releases and production needs. Load and unload product from trailers, ensuring correct placement and secure stacking. Participate in inventory control processes to maintain accurate stock levels and product locations. Follow all safety policies, including use of required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Collaborate with team members and leadership to support daily production and shipping goals. Maintain consistent attendance and reliability to support a high-speed manufacturing environment. Essential Skills At least 2 years of forklift operating experience, including both sit-down and stand-up forklifts. At least 2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Ability to operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts safely in a high-speed, production-oriented setting. Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler and apply basic shop math. Demonstrated ability to learn and follow written and verbal instructions and ask questions when clarification is needed. Proven capability to work effectively as a member of a team while also performing tasks independently. High degree of attention to detail and strong dexterity in controlling equipment to prevent damage to materials and machinery. Comfort with lifting up to 60 pounds throughout the workday. Experience with material handling in warehouse production or warehouse distribution environments. Experience using RF scanners for product identification and tracking. Proven attendance record and reliability, validated through references. Strong work ethic, drive for results, and willingness to support production needs, including overtime. Positive attitude with a team-first mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating reach trucks, reach forklifts, and stand-up reach equipment. Background in corrugated or converting industry is preferred but not required. Experience in high-speed machining or high-speed manufacturing environments. Familiarity with warehouse production processes and material flow in large facilities. Comfort working with both clamp trucks and traditional forklifts. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production schedules. Willingness to work extended shifts (10-12 hours) and support multiple shifts as operations expand. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a newly built, approximately 550,000-square-foot greenfield manufacturing and distribution facility designed for corrugated packaging production. The site features state-of-the-art machinery, multiple dock doors, and advanced material handling technology, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and RF scanning systems. Current openings are on 2nd shift (approximately 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), with regular 10- and 12-hour days, so you must be comfortable working schedules such as 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. The facility is not climate controlled due to the heat and pressure required for corrugated manufacturing, but it is well ventilated; temperatures can be warmer during summer months. You will spend much of the day on your feet and walking across a very spacious plant that includes both converting and corrugating departments. Required attire includes steel-toe footwear, safety vests, safety glasses, and ear protection at all times. A hard hat is also required for now while construction and final build-out continue in certain areas. The environment emphasizes safety, high productivity, and collaboration in a modern industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
