Material Handler / Forklift Operator
NORTH VERNON, IN 47265
Monday-Friday 8am-430pm $18.00/hr Temp-Hire Exegistics is seeking a motivated, safety-focused, and dependable Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our growing warehouse operations team. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the warehouse while supporting inventory accuracy, shipping, receiving, and overall operational excellence. The ideal candidate has forklift operating experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and delivered on time.

ResponsibilitiesMaterial Handling & Equipment Operation
Safely operate warehouse equipment, including:
Reach Trucks
Sit-Down Forklifts
Stand-Up Forklifts
Hi-Lo Lifts
Clamp Trucks
Electric and Manual Pallet Jacks
Order Pickers
Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials throughout the warehouse.
Transport inventory to designated storage, staging, and shipping locations.
Safely handle products while minimizing damage and loss.
Inventory Management
Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanners to:
Locate inventory
Perform inventory transactions
Pick customer orders
Maintain inventory accuracy
Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
Ensure inventory is stored according to company standards and location assignments.
Shipping & Receiving
Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities, product condition, and documentation accuracy.
Prepare outgoing shipments according to customer and carrier requirements.
Complete shipping and receiving paperwork accurately and on time.
Assist with loading and unloading trailers while following all safety procedures.
Warehouse Operations
Pick, pack, and stage customer orders accurately and efficiently.
Organize warehouse storage areas to maximize space utilization.
Maintain clean and organized aisles, workstations, and dock areas.
Support daily operational goals and productivity standards.
Safety & Equipment Inspection
Conduct daily pre-shift equipment inspections.
Identify and report equipment defects or safety concerns immediately.
Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and minor maintenance when appropriate.
Follow OSHA regulations, company policies, and warehouse safety procedures.
Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
QualificationsRequired
Forklift operating experience.
Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment.
Basic computer and mathematical skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Preferred
High school diploma or GED.
1+ year of warehouse or material handling experience.
Current forklift certification.
Experience with WMS systems and RF scanning equipment.
Shipping and receiving experience.
Experience in a 3PL or distribution center environment.
Knowledge of inventory control procedures and cycle counting.
Experience operating multiple types of powered industrial equipment.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment for extended periods.
Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules as business demands require.
