Job Description

Job Overview Summit Staffing is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Sit-Down Forklift Operator. This position is responsible for safely operating a sit-down forklift to transport raw materials, finished products, and inventory throughout the facility while supporting production and shipping operations. The ideal candidate has prior forklift experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Contract-to-hire Key Responsibilities Safely operate a sit-down forklift to move raw materials, finished goods, and inventory throughout the warehouse and production areas. Load and unload trucks while verifying product counts and ensuring materials are handled properly. Supply production lines with materials and remove finished products as needed to support continuous operations. Transport materials to designated storage locations while maintaining accurate inventory organization. Perform daily pre-shift forklift inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns immediately. Assist with inventory control by accurately scanning, labeling, and documenting material movements. Follow all warehouse safety procedures, traffic patterns, and OSHA guidelines while operating equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area. Collaborate with warehouse, production, and shipping personnel to meet daily production and shipping goals. Perform general warehouse duties as assigned, including palletizing, wrapping, and staging materials. Skills & Experience Minimum 1 year of sit-down forklift operating experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment (preferred). Previous experience loading and unloading trailers safely and efficiently. Ability to safely transport materials in a fast-paced production environment. Basic warehouse and inventory management experience preferred. Ability to accurately complete paperwork, inventory documentation, or RF scanner transactions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience operating a sit-down forklift in a manufacturing environment. Experience supporting production, shipping, and receiving operations. Familiarity with warehouse inventory systems or RF scanners. Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high safety standards. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and work on your feet throughout the shift. Work Environment Positions available on 1st shift and 2nd shift. Manufacturing and warehouse environment with forklift traffic, moving machinery, and moderate to high noise levels. Frequent forklift operation combined with standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift. Exposure to industrial equipment and warehouse conditions. Employees are expected to follow all company safety policies and operating procedures.

From $18.00 per hour
