Warehouse Worker & Forklift Operator Job Description This role supports warehouse recycling operations by sorting and separating recyclable materials and operating specialized equipment such as a baler and Styrofoam densifier. You help maintain an efficient, safe, and organized work environment while contributing to sustainable materials management. Responsibilities Sort and separate recyclable materials according to established categories and quality standards. Operate the baler to compact recyclable materials safely and efficiently. Operate the Styrofoam densifier to process Styrofoam and related materials in line with operating procedures. Handle materials throughout the warehouse, including loading, unloading, and staging items as needed. Follow all workplace safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards to support efficient operations. Monitor equipment during use and report any issues, malfunctions, or safety concerns promptly. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production and recycling targets. Work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as required to support operational needs. Essential Skills Proficiency in recycling sorting and separation processes. Ability to safely operate a baler for compacting recyclable materials. Ability to operate a Styrofoam densifier according to safety and operational guidelines. Strong material handling skills within a warehouse environment. Commitment to workplace safety compliance and adherence to safety protocols. Reliable open availability to work any day from Sunday through Saturday. Willingness and ability to work overtime when required. High School Diploma. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a warehouse, recycling facility, or similar industrial environment. Strong attention to detail when sorting and separating materials. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Capability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good organizational skills to maintain orderly work areas and material flow. The standard shift runs from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with open availability required from Sunday through Saturday and the possibility of overtime. You regularly use equipment such as balers and Styrofoam densifiers and perform material handling tasks. The environment emphasizes strict workplace safety compliance, and you can expect to follow safety procedures, use appropriate protective equipment, and maintain clean, organized work areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hanover Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.45 - $20.45/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
