Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Maintain certification(s) to operate Industrial/Manufacturing equipment to assist with the daily operation of the vocational program.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent and some experience working in related field. Provides own transportation for program coordination needs. Must qualify to operate forklift and box truck under agency policy. Math abilities at least at an eighth grade level, for calculating loads, bills of lading and freight quotes.
SKILL SETS
Adequate communication skills, process verbal and written instructions, dependable, interact effectively with the public and staff, adaptability-able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events, strong sense of commitment, confidence to operate Industrial/Manufacturing equipment. Skills in operating the type of forklift. Aptitude for learning automated and computerized processes for inventory control.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS
Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens, biohazardous waste and hazardous waste. Physical ability to get on /off of forklift and/or truck. Frequent talking and hearing when communicates with clients, members of their families and agency staff. Patience, tolerance and ability to deal with stress are needed on a daily basis. Visual acuity and manual dexterity needed for required paperwork and data entry.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates with the Production Coordinator and/or Supervisor to ensure product is properly received, inventoried, stored and shipped/delivered. 2. Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities. Identifying workplace safety hazards. Adhering to safety management standards. 3. Primary responsibilities include operating forklift, box truck, baler, shrink wrap machine, and/or any other vehicle mechanical equipment necessary. 4. Operate forklift and/or manual jack to unload/load materials and merchandise for incoming/outgoing vehicles and stack them to assigned areas. Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies. 5. Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment. Securing loads to machine before transportation. 6. Picking and wrapping orders for shipment. Optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency. 7. Operate forklift to transport materials to production workstations. Assists with packaging, sorting and assembly of contract work. Assists in meeting contract deadline. 8. Inspect machinery for damage to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing daily maintenance, scheduling vehicles for maintenance and repairs. 9. Maintains required record keeping; activity log, mileage log, invoicing, Bill of lading, inventory/stock supply demand, route log. Monthly records on vehicles and forklifts. Maintains monthly inventory records on Chemical Spill Kit in forklift battery charging area and eye wash station. 10.
