Immediate openings available Forklift Operator - Job Description Position Summary The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment to load and unload trucks, move merchandise throughout the warehouse, weigh pallets, complete pallet weight documentation, and assist with general warehouse duties as needed. This position requires strong attention to safety, organization, and accuracy. Forklift Operators are expected to assist in other areas of warehouse operations when forklift work is not required or when additional support is needed. Primary Responsibilities Safely operate a forklift to move merchandise, pallets, and materials throughout the warehouse. Load outgoing trucks according to company procedures. Unload incoming trucks and place merchandise in designated areas. Move pallets between processing, storage, staging, shipping, and receiving areas. Properly position and organize pallets within the warehouse. Assist with staging merchandise for processing, shipping, or other warehouse operations. Follow supervisor instructions regarding movement and placement of merchandise. Maintain clear and organized warehouse aisles and work areas. Handle merchandise carefully to prevent product or property damage. Pallet Weighing & Documentation Transport pallets to the designated scale. Properly weigh pallets according to company procedures. Record accurate pallet weights. Complete required weight sheets and other documentation. Verify information before submitting completed paperwork. Immediately report discrepancies or problems with weights, scales, or documentation to a supervisor. Accuracy when weighing and documenting pallets is an important responsibility of this position. Pallet & Merchandise Support Rebuild merchandise that has fallen from a pallet. Restack merchandise to create a safe and stable pallet. Straighten leaning or unstable pallets. Pick up and organize merchandise that has fallen during transportation or warehouse operations. Rewrap or secure pallets when necessary. Assist with pallet organization and cleanup. Help ensure merchandise is stored and transported safely. Forklift Operators should never attempt to move an unstable pallet when doing so could create a safety hazard. The pallet should first be secured or rebuilt as necessary. General Warehouse Responsibilities This position is not limited to forklift operation. When forklift work is not immediately required, or when operational needs require additional assistance, employees may be assigned other reasonable warehouse duties. Assist with pallet building or rebuilding. Move and organize merchandise. Clean and organize work areas. Assist processing teams. Break down boxes or packaging. Help prepare merchandise for processing or shipment. Assist with general warehouse cleanup. Perform other warehouse duties as assigned by management. Forklift Safety Requirements Be properly trained and authorized to operate assigned equipment. Perform required pre-operation equipment inspections. Operate forklifts at a safe speed. Pay close attention to pedestrians and other equipment. Use horns at intersections, blind spots, and other appropriate areas. Maintain a clear view while traveling. Follow designated forklift traffic patterns and warehouse safety procedures. Never exceed the rated capacity of the forklift. Ensure loads are stable before lifting or transporting them. Never allow unauthorized passengers on a forklift. Properly park and secure equipment when not in use. Immediately report forklift damage, mechanical problems, accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions to management. Physical Requirements Sit or stand for extended periods. Frequently enter and exit forklift equipment. Bend, reach, push, pull, lift, and carry merchandise. Handle merchandise of different sizes, shapes, and weights. Assist with rebuilding and securing pallets. Work around moving equipment, trucks, pallets, conveyor systems, and other warehouse machinery. Employees must use proper lifting and material-handling techniques and request assistance when merchandise cannot be safely handled individually.
