Forklift Operator And Material Handler

Description 2nd and 3rd shift openings: 3-11pm, 11pm-7am $20+/hr. A generic Forklift Operator (or Material Handler) is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of goods within warehouses, factories, construction sites, and distribution centers . Their primary goal is to ensure materials are transported, stored, and retrieved accurately to maintain operational flow . 1.

Core Responsibilities Material Handling:

Load and unload goods from incoming vehicles (trucks, trailers, ships) and stack them in designated storage areas .

Inventory Control:

Locate and move products for shipment or production. Use RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track stock levels and update records .

Equipment Inspection:

Conduct mandatory daily pre-shift inspections for mechanical issues, tire condition, and fluid levels to ensure safety and compliance .

Order Fulfillment:

Pick, pack, and secure orders (e.g., shrink-wrapping pallets) according to production schedules .

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to OSHA standards, maintain safe speeds, and identify workplace hazards to prevent accidents .

Maintenance & Housekeeping:

Perform minor maintenance (e.g., recharging batteries, refueling propane) and keep work areas clean and free of debris . 2.

Essential Requirements & Skills Certification:

A valid forklift operator certification is almost always required .

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift heavy objects (typically 35-70 lbs) and stand or sit for long periods .

Technical Knowledge:

Familiarity with various industrial trucks (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks, or pallet jacks) .

Soft Skills:
