Forklift Operator Job Description Seeking dependable Forklift Operators to safely move materials throughout a manufacturing facility, support production operations, load and unload products, and maintain a safe and organized work environment. In this hands-on role, you will operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, perform general labor and packing tasks as needed, and assist with housekeeping duties to support overall plant operations. Responsibilities Operate sit-down forklifts safely to move, load, unload, and stage materials throughout the manufacturing facility. Support production operations by ensuring timely and accurate material handling, including picking and moving inventory and products. Perform general labor and packing tasks as needed to assist with manufacturing and warehouse activities. Load and unload trucks and other transport vehicles, ensuring materials are handled carefully and efficiently. Maintain accurate inventory and product movement by staging materials in designated areas and following established procedures. Conduct basic equipment checks and inspections to support safety compliance and proper forklift operation. Follow all safety guidelines and plant rules to minimize risk and maintain a safe work environment. Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards by performing regular housekeeping and plant support duties. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate material flow and production needs. Demonstrate strong attendance, reliability, and teamwork to support continuous operations in a fast-paced industrial setting. Essential Skills Previous forklift operating experience is required, with the ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift. Proven experience loading, unloading, and moving materials in an industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, or similar environment. Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial setting while following all safety rules and procedures. Capability to lift, bend, stand, and perform physically active tasks for extended periods in an industrial environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety when handling materials and operating equipment. Reliable attendance and dependability to support continuous production and warehouse operations. Effective teamwork and communication skills to coordinate tasks with coworkers and support plant operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift certification is preferred and demonstrates formal training in safe equipment operation. Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or construction materials environments is preferred. Comfort working in a hands-on industrial setting with exposure to dust, noise, and moving equipment. Ability to adapt to varying workloads and support housekeeping and general labor tasks as needed. Work Environment This role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility with a fast-paced, safety-focused atmosphere. You will work both indoors and outdoors handling materials, with regular exposure to dust, noise, and moving equipment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided in accordance with safety standards. The position is physically active, involving lifting, bending, standing, and moving throughout the shift to support production operations. Available shifts include first shift, generally 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM with 8-10 hour days based on business needs, and second shift from 6:30 PM to 6:00 AM, offering structured hours in a consistent, industrial work setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wharton, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
