Job Summary:
This position is responsible for keeping the work area safe, maintaining good housekeeping, and efficiently operating bagging, stacking, and salt room operations. Drives powered industrial forklifts to move products, equipment, or materials. Works at different workstations as production needs require. 2nd Shift 2 pm-10 pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
Loads or unloads materials onto or off of van trucks, flatbeds, pneumatic trucks, dump trucks, and other types of shipping vehicles. Safely operates loading and unloading stations in support of material transfer. Pulls orders for shipment from shipping documentation. Rechecks the loaded product for accuracy using scanning equipment. Signs shipping documentation and submits it to the S/R group leader. Prepares the receiving report, signs it, and submits it to the S/R group leader for inspection. Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules. Restacks product from damaged pallets. Inventories materials, products, and bags located either in the yard or in the warehouse. Stock products in the yard in blocks according to company procedures. Responsible for completing proper operating records. Observes all Federal, State, and Company safety regulations. Performs all related Good Manufacturing Practices and maintains associated records in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures good product and packaging is loaded on trucks. Maintains assigned work areas in a neat, orderly manner. Reports all damage and spillage to supervision immediately, and replaces bad bags before shipment. May be required to perform other duties related to the job.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High School or equivalent Prior forklift use preferred, and experience in an industrial environment Minimum two (2) to five (5) years of experience operating in a production packaging environment. Operate safely and maintain good housekeeping. Industrial experience operating forklifts preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Ability to work overtime as necessary. Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hi-visibility apparel, and gloves. Work in varying temperatures and humidity levels; the environment includes noise and dust. Perform tasks around moving machinery and energized power cables. Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, and move about the facility. Able to pull, push, and lift 50lb.
