Forklift Operator and Material Handler - 1st Shift Job Description This role focuses on safely and efficiently handling frozen meat products throughout the warehouse. You will perform critical tasks such as loading, unloading, weighing, bagging, packing, unpacking, and labeling pallets. A key part of the position involves palletizing frozen meat from chest freezers for shipment and operating a sit-down forklift to move product within the facility. Responsibilities Load and unload product from trucks and storage areas in a safe and efficient manner. Weigh, bag, pack, and unpack product according to established procedures and quality standards. Label pallets accurately to ensure proper identification, tracking, and shipping. Palletize frozen meat from chest freezers, organizing and stacking product securely for outbound shipments. Operate a sit-down forklift to move, stage, and transport product throughout the warehouse. Handle totes of chicken parts and other frozen materials with care to maintain product integrity. Follow all warehouse safety guidelines and material handling best practices. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient warehouse operations. Perform general labor and material handling tasks as needed to support daily workflow. Essential Skills Experience working in a warehouse or general labor environment. Proficiency in material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, and palletizing product. Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and effectively. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Comfort working with frozen meat products and totes of chicken parts. Attention to detail when weighing, bagging, packing, unpacking, and labeling pallets. Reliability and strong work ethic in a physically demanding role. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in food or cold storage environments is beneficial. Familiarity with basic warehouse safety procedures and best practices. The environment is colder due to the frozen material, with temperatures typically around 50 degrees in winter and 80 degrees in summer. There is a strong odor associated with the frozen meat. Work is performed on the 1st shift and involves regular physical activity, including lifting, moving pallets, and operating a sit-down forklift in and around chest freezers. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mifflintown, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.42 - $19.42/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
