Production Forklift Operator — Northeast Philadelphia Southwark Metal Manufacturing is hiring experienced Production Forklift Operators for our Northeast Philadelphia facility! This is NOT your average warehouse forklift position. This is a hands-on production environment where you'll operate a sit-down forklift while working directly with heavy steel coils and the manufacturing teams that use them. Laborers' Local 57 Consistent Annual Pay Increases Full-Time Position Paid Weekly — Every Friday First Shift Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-3:30 PM 5 days × 8-hour shifts Second Shift Monday-Thursday 3:30 PM-2:00 AM 4 days × 10-hour shifts $1.00/hour shift differential About the Role We're looking for a dependable, safety-minded, and physically capable Production Forklift Operator to join our Coil Room team . Again, this is not your average warehouse forklift position. You'll work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where steel coils are prepared and supplied directly to our production lines. This role combines forklift operation with hands-on material handling , so you should be comfortable working around heavy steel products and performing physical tasks throughout your shift. Your work will play an important role in keeping our production lines running safely and efficiently. What You'll Do Safely operate a sit-down forklift to transport, position, and stage heavy steel coils and raw materials Unload trucks and prepare steel coils for production Unband, open, and manually handle coils as required Stage and supply coils and raw materials for machine operators and production teams Assist with loading and unloading materials to maintain production workflow Perform daily forklift inspections and immediately report safety or equipment concerns Follow all company safety procedures and production requirements Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Communicate with supervisors and production team members to keep operations running smoothly Perform other duties as assigned to support production goals What We're Looking For Previous forklift experience is required Experience operating a forklift in a production or manufacturing environment is strongly preferred This is a physical position — candidates must be comfortable handling and moving heavy materials and steel products Good physical coordination and the ability to work safely around heavy machinery and materials Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to showing up and getting the job done Strong commitment to safety and quality Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Why Join Southwark Metal Manufacturing?
