Description of Position:

Applicants will work in one of 3 production departments: slicing, drying, or clipping. Responsibilities include slicing of lumber, and monitoring output, stacking bundles of lumber on and off pallets, or clipping to customer's specifications. Working in a warehouse environment with a positive outlook and stay productive towards the overall plant success.

Full-time, Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week, In person Maintain a safe working environment and follow all safety regulations including PPE compliance. The Material Handler and Forklift Operator plays a critical role in the daily operations of a lumber facility. This position is responsible for safely moving, organizing, loading, and unloading raw logs, processed lumber, and finished wood products throughout the yard and warehouse using a forklift and heavy equipment.

Core Duties and Responsibilities Equipment Operation:

Safely operated heavy-duty industrial forklifts, side-loaders, or combi-lifts in both indoor warehouses and outdoor lumber yards.

Loading & Unloading:

Load and unload flatbed trailers, railcars, and shipping containers with bundles of lumber, timber, or veneer.

Inventory Control :

Move lumber products to designated storage zones, ensuring stacks are straight, stable, and organized by wood grade and size.

Order Picking:

Retrieve specific wood orders from inventory based on pick tickets and transport them to the staging or shipping areas.

Order Verification:

Double-check tags, tallies, bundle counts, and wood species against shipping documents to ensure order accuracy.

Safety & Maintenance:

Conduct mandatory pre-shift forklift inspections, log maintenance issues, and strictly follow all facility safety protocols.

Tying & Banding:

Secure lumber bundles using steel or plastic banding equipment and apply protective wrapping or tarps for transit when necessary.

Housekeeping:

Keep the lumber yard, driveways, and warehouse aisles clean and free of debris, stray wood scraps, and hazards.

Position Requirements:

FORKLIFT EXPERIENCE IS PREFFERED BUT NOT REQUIRED FOR ALL HIRING POSITIONS

Must be able to lift to 25 pounds and for long periods of time. Must be able to work as a part of a team and be willing to cross train for other departments as needed. Reliable communication and transportation. Positive attendance record. Position Schedule (Days/Times etc.):
