Job Description
About the Role We are hiring an experienced Forklift Operator / Yard Jockey ("yard dog") for a busy distribution and warehouse operation in the Summerville / Charleston, SC area. This is a full-time position, with an immediate start. You'll split your time between running equipment inside the warehouse and moving trailers around the yard outside. We're looking for a dependable, safety-focused operator who can step in right away and be a strong contributor from day one. What You'll Do Safely operate a reach truck, cherry picker (order picker), and sit-down forklift Move, load, unload, and stage product throughout the warehouse Drive a yard truck (terminal tractor / yard goat) to move trailers between dock doors and the yard Back trailers into dock doors and park them in assigned yard spots Hook and unhook trailers: connect air lines, raise and lower landing gear, and check trailer numbers and seals Keep the yard organized to the dock schedule so doors turn quickly Work as part of a team to hit daily productivity and quality goals Follow all safety procedures and keep your work area clean and organized What We're Looking For 2-3 years of recent forklift / equipment operating experience Hands-on experience with a reach truck, cherry picker (order picker), and sit-down forklift Experience moving trailers with a yard truck, spotter, or terminal tractor (yard jockey, yard driver, hostler, or similar) Comfortable backing 53' trailers into dock doors CDL or past truck driving experience is a plus Able to work outdoors in all weather Must speak English with good communication skills Reliable transportation Steel-toe shoes required Committed, dependable, and able to work well with a team Apply today - we have an immediate opening and are interviewing now.
