Material Handler Job Description SUMMARY:

Perform material handling duties to provide supplies for on-time production of high quality, cost effective products. Meet required standards while complying with all required safety and environmental standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive, store and distribute materials, equipment, and products. Read production schedule, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. Convey materials and items from receiving to production areas, storage or to other designated areas by hand, hand truck or forklift. Sort and place in proper storage areas or bins Perform job functions while meeting safety, quality, and production standards. Inspect work coming from suppliers and inspect our own work before passing it on to internal and external customers. Keep work area, machinery, equipment, and control panels clean and organized. Actively look for methods to improve production. Use all personal protective equipment required, follow all safety/environmental procedures. Computer data entry. Other duties as assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED; Previous forklift experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to understand basic work, safety, and quality requirements. Good hand/eye coordination Must have strong attention to detail and desire for quality work. Basic math skills Ability to operator forklift, or willingness to learn how to operate a forklift.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Continually required to stand. Occasionally required to walk. Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl. Frequently required to talk or hear. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally work around fumes & airborne particles. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is very moderate. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to stand and balance regularly. Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: forklift.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Fridays 6:30 a.m. to 10:15am p.m. Schedule may change depending on workload.
