Welding & Automotive Shipping Rack Manufacturing Position Summary:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely moving raw materials, work-in-progress components, finished automotive shipping racks, and other products throughout the manufacturing facility. This role supports production, welding, assembly, and shipping operations while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. •Stead afternoon shift 2:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. •
Key Responsibilities:
Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently. Transport steel, tubing, welding materials, and production components to workstations. Move completed automotive shipping racks from welding and assembly areas to storage or shipping locations. Load and unload trucks, trailers, and shipping containers. Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against packing slips and shipping documents. Supply production lines with required materials to minimize downtime. Stack and store finished products in designated warehouse locations. Conduct daily forklift inspections and report maintenance issues. Follow all workplace safety procedures, including pedestrian awareness and load securement requirements. Maintain accurate inventory movements using warehouse or production tracking systems. Assist with general warehouse duties, housekeeping, and material organization. Support production teams during peak workloads as required.
Qualifications:
Valid forklift certification Previous forklift experience in a manufacturing, welding, automotive, or industrial environment preferred. Experience handling large steel structures, fabricated components, or shipping racks is an asset. Ability to read shipping documents, labels, and work orders. Strong attention to safety and detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) occasionally. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to welding operations, noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Ability to safely maneuver oversized and heavy fabricated products. Interaction with welders, assemblers and management team Fast-paced environment requiring adherence to production schedules and safety standards.
