The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport, load, unload, store, and stage materials throughout the facility. Work as part of a team of operators to ensure efficient transport of raw materials using an outdoor forklift.
HIGH EFFICIENCY TASKS
Safely operate forklift Assist in shipping and receiving processes Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for repairs needed. Follow all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety protocols and warehouse safety standards during daily operations. Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing materials for efficient storage and retrieval while adhering to manual handling best practices.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES
Strong understanding of warehouse operations including shipping & receiving, order picking, load & unload procedures. Maintain well organized green lumber yard. Load lumber stacker yard with appropriate green lumber. Unload lumber from the outfeed of the lumber stacker. Load and Unload trucks that transport between mills. Load and Unload kilns following the loading procedures. Perform daily checklist duties each morning prior to starting the shift. Clean lifts (interior & exterior). Monitor dry lumber warehouse and maintain cleanliness - (Pick up boards, sticks, blocks, etc.. and return to the proper location. Sweep the warehouse when needed. Visually check for breakage.) Make rounds of lumber yard and maintain cleanliness - (pick up boards, sticks, blocks, etc…) Maintain cleanliness of kilns as described in the kiln loading procedure. Prioritize tasks with supervisor (ex. Finish loading kilns quickly and efficiently to allow kiln operator time to start the kiln) Other duties as assigned by team leader or supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
Effective communication skills (phone, email, interpersonal) Ability to learn & operate new systems, software, equipment, and catalogs Valid Driver's License, clean driving record, safe driver Experience in multitasking and prioritizing jobs Ability to pick up, carry, and manipulate up to 50 pounds Ability to climb stairs and ladders Relative computer skills (email, word processing, scanning, etc.) Proven experience operating forklift trucks or similar material handling equipment. Familiarity with warehouse safety standards including OSHA regulations and forklift safety protocols.
SHIFT AVAILABILITY
This position requires availability for first shift, typically between 6:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Flexibility to work additional hours as needed is preferred.
Pay:
$17.30 - $20.50 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
