A Material Handler is a crucial team member responsible for the safe operation of forklifts to facilitate the movement of finished goods within the warehouse and yard. This role involves packaging, moving and locating material in a warehouse environment. The Material Handler plays a key role in maintaining a complete understanding of product specifications and upholding quality standards.
What You'll Be Doing:
Safely and efficiently package finished materials according to specific instructions and quality standards. Collaborate closely with Machine Operators to coordinate the packaging process seamlessly. Use a forklift to transport materials to and from workstations and designated storage areas. Ensure proper labeling and tagging of packaged materials. Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in the packaging area. Assist with the loading and unloading of materials using forklifts and overhead cranes. Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, including the consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Utilize the SteelPlus ERP system for recording and tracking packaging and inventory data. Contribute to meeting or exceeding quality standards for finished goods inventory Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Ability to consistently report to work as scheduled and perform the essential functions of the position. Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred. Forklift experience and knowledge of packaging equipment preferred. Basic computer and technology skills for data entry and equipment operation. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods of time. Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Ability to work overtime and extended hours as needed. Ability to work in varying weather and environmental conditions, including outdoor conditions as required by the job.
