A Fundraising Manager manages fundraising for an organization. Develops and implements fundraising strategies that include online fundraising, mail and email campaigns, grant writing and fundraising events. May develop relationships with large donors.
Development Department overview - InnerCity Struggle's (ICS) Development Department is responsible for raising the organization's annual operating budget, which is approximately $5.8 million. Members of the Department work with fellow staff and management to execute strategies with foundations, federal and local government departments and individual donors to reach this goal.
Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Associate supports the day-to-day operations and fundraising activities of the Development Department. The Associate will contribute to fundraising events and campaigns, individual donor cultivation and recognition, board and staff engagement, donor communications, and building and maintaining ICS's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. The Development Associate will work closely with the Director of Development to support the implementation of the organization's resource development plan with a focus on individual giving, major gifts, special events, donor stewardship and other fundraising strategies. Development Associate Responsibilities Fundraising Events Support ICS's fundraising events including, the planning, execution and follow-up for all special events. Assist with vendor communication, volunteers, event timelines, fundraising and RSVP tracking, and invoice follow up. Support the Development Director, with sponsorship and donation outreach and event logistics, including silent auction, and other fundraising activities. Assist with the development of event and solicitation materials, electronic and printed. Support donor engagement and stewardship prior to, during and after events. Take on increased responsibility for specific event-related projects as skills and experience develop Grant Support Work collaboratively with the Grants Coordinator to support ICS's foundation, corporate, and government fundraising activities. Work collaboratively with the Grants Coordinator to prepare grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, applications, and other funding requests. Assist with gathering and organizing programmatic, financial, and organizational information needed for grant submissions. Assist with grant reporting by gathering programmatic and organizational information, writing narrative reports, and organizing materials needed to meet reporting requirements. Individual Donor and Board Relations Support strategies to cultivate existing and new ICS individual donors ie. individual giving for annual fund, major gifts, donor circles or membership, donor engagement, fundraising events, and personal solicitation. Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising appeals and calls to action ie. mailings, print and electronic, social media fundraising campaigns. Assist with with prospect and research new supporters, including individuals, foundations and business. Coordinate administrative details and tasks related to the Board & Development Committee. (i.e.schedule meetings, prepare and distribute materials, agendas, take minutes, etc.). Calendar meetings with donors and board members, including handling of meeting logistics, such as meeting confirmations, scheduling site visits, etc. Donor Database/ CRM Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence within one day of receiving a gift or pledge. Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor database and maintain up-to-date, accurate donation and donor records consistently. Assist in creation of fundraising reports and other database reports as needed for Executive Director and board meetings. Support the administration of multiple fundraising platforms, ie. nationbuilder, givesmart etc. Other Responsibilities Assist in the day-to-day activities of the development department including but not limited to calendar and timelines, donor and foundation files, etc. Research and stay abreast of funding opportunities, a variety of sources including growing individual donor base and trends in the fundraising landscape. Represent ICS at various events and engagement opportunities in the community, which may include evenings and weekends. Collaborate with the communications team and assist in maintaining website and social media platforms as a strategic communication and fundraising tool. Participate in Development meetings to engage in planning, design, and implementation of fundraising and donor stewardship. Skill Requirements Ability to execute details successfully.
