Lead the development and fundraising efforts of Aurora FCA so that financial resources, ministry partnerships, and donor relationships are strengthened to expand the Gospel through coaches and athletes. About Aurora FCA Aurora FCA exists to see coaches and athletes transformed by Jesus Christ and empowered to transform the world . We serve middle and high school students, coaches, churches, volunteers, and families throughout Aurora by using the influence of sport to make disciples who make disciples. We believe Aurora FCA should "Be known for making Jesus Known." As Aurora FCA continues to grow, we are looking for a Development Director who can build the financial and relational foundation necessary for that growth. Position Overview The Development Director will provide leadership for the fundraising and development strategy of Aurora FCA. This person will cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, develop church and community partnerships, lead fundraising campaigns, support staff fundraising efforts, and help create a culture where fundraising is viewed not as a necessary evil, but as an opportunity for people to join in God's work through FCA . The Development Director will work closely with the Aurora FCA Director, staff team, board of directors, volunteers, churches, business leaders, and ministry partners. Key Responsibilities1. Donor Development & Relationship Management Develop and maintain a portfolio of individual donors and ministry partners. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new donors. Build meaningful long-term relationships with major donors and prospective major donors. Develop strategies for increasing donor retention and recurring giving. Schedule regular donor meetings, calls, visits, and ministry updates. Provide personalized communication and stewardship to key donors. Help donors understand the ministry impact of their giving. Develop strategies for gifts such as donor-advised funds, stock gifts, major gifts, and legacy giving. 2. Fundraising Strategy Create and execute an annual development plan aligned with Aurora FCA's ministry strategy. Establish annual fundraising goals and measurable objectives. Lead year-end, Giving Tuesday, special campaigns, and other fundraising initiatives. Develop creative fundraising opportunities for individuals, churches, businesses, and community partners. Track progress toward fundraising goals and communicate regularly with leadership and the board. Help Aurora FCA develop sustainable revenue rather than relying primarily on one-time gifts. Assist staff members in developing and maintaining their personal ministry support teams when appropriate. 3. Church & Community Partnerships Develop relationships with pastors, churches, businesses, foundations, and community leaders. Create a clear pathway for churches to become active ministry partners with Aurora FCA. Identify churches that can provide financial support, volunteers, prayer, facilities, meals, and other resources. Develop business and community sponsorship opportunities. Help communicate Aurora FCA's vision and ministry opportunities to churches and community organizations. Represent Aurora FCA at community and ministry events. 4. Board Development & Engagement Partner with the board's development/fundraising efforts. Equip board members to participate meaningfully in fundraising. Provide board members with tools, talking points, donor information, and opportunities to engage prospective supporters. Help develop a board culture where every board member is actively involved in advancing the mission. Provide regular fundraising reports and updates to the board. 5. Communications & Storytelling Work with the Aurora FCA team to communicate compelling stories of transformed coaches and athletes. Develop donor newsletters, impact reports, fundraising appeals, and stewardship communications. Help communicate the connection between financial partnership and ministry impact. Gather stories, testimonies, photos, and statistics that demonstrate FCA's impact. Collaborate with marketing/social media efforts to create a consistent development message. 6. Development Systems & Administration Maintain accurate donor records and relationship information in Aurora FCA's CRM. Develop and maintain a donor pipeline. Track prospects, meetings, asks, gifts, pledges, and follow-up.
Monitor key development metrics including:
Total giving, New donors, Donor retention, Recurring donors, Major donor growth, Church partners, Business/community partners, Average gift, Staff fundraising progress Ensure timely gift acknowledgement and donor stewardship. Develop repeatable systems and processes for fundraising as Aurora FCA grows. What Success Looks Like Within the first 12 months, the Development Director will: Establish a clear annual development strategy and fundraising calendar. Build a healthy pipeline of prospective donors and ministry partners. Increase donor retention and recurring giving. Develop stronger relationships with key individual donors. Establish new church and business partnerships. Lead successful year-end and special fundraising campaigns. Equip the board to become more effective ambassadors and fundraisers. Create a consistent donor communication and stewardship process. Help Aurora FCA move toward greater financial sustainability. Develop systems that allow the organization to grow without development becoming dependent on one individual. Ultimately, success is measured not simply by dollars raised, but by people invited to participate in what God is doing through Aurora FCA. QualificationsRequired A committed follower of Jesus Christ who actively lives out FCA's mission and values. Strong relational and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with donors, pastors, business leaders, and community members. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Comfort asking people to financially support a ministry or nonprofit. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle donor information appropriately. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for donor and ministry events. Preferred Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2-5+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, sales, ministry advancement, or relationship management. Experience with major gifts and donor cultivation. Experience working with churches, nonprofits, or Christian organizations. Experience with CRM/donor management systems. Familiarity with FCA and/or youth sports ministry. Existing relationships within the Aurora/Denver Christian, business, sports, or nonprofit communities.
