Job Description

Director of Development Northside Boxing Club - 5.0 Minneapolis, MN Job Details Full-time $55,000 - $75,000 a year 21 hours ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off 401(k) matching Qualifications Research Calendar management Business development experience within non-profit sector Organizational skills Prospecting Full Job Description Director of Development Northside Boxing Club | Full-Time | Reports to the Executive Director Position Overview Northside Boxing Club is seeking a Director of Development to own the execution of the organization's fundraising strategy. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role for someone who is equal parts fundraiser, project manager, and closer of loops. The Executive Director sets fundraising strategy, leads major relationships, and owns the organization's vision, growth, and endowment. The Director of Development turns that strategy into an organized system of action: a managed pipeline, a stewarded donor base, a well-run calendar of touchpoints, and a Board that is engaged and informed.
Simply put:
this person makes sure the fundraising happens — on schedule, with every donor and board relationship documented and followed up. Core Responsibilities Development & Fundraising Strategy Execution Help manage and execute Northside Boxing Club's approximately $700,000 annual fundraising strategy in partnership with the Executive Director. Maintain a comprehensive development calendar and fundraising pipeline, including individual donors, foundations, corporate partners, events, campaigns, and other revenue opportunities. Track fundraising progress throughout the year and identify gaps, opportunities, and necessary next steps. Maintain organized donor and prospect records, including conversations, commitments, giving history, follow-up dates, and relationship notes.
Own the follow-up calendar:
ensure every meaningful donor and board conversation results in appropriate, timely follow-through. Work closely with the Executive Director to identify new sources of sustainable revenue and creative fundraising opportunities. Donor Stewardship & Community Engagement Develop and execute donor stewardship strategies, including thank-you communications, personal touches, gifts, updates, invitations, and ongoing engagement. Develop consistent, proactive communication with Northside Boxing Club's donor and supporter base. Coordinate donor meetings, coffees, gym tours, dinners, and other relationship-building opportunities — from list-building through scheduling, invitations, tracking responses, and post-event thank-yous. Identify individuals and organizations that should be introduced to Northside Boxing Club and develop strategies for engaging them. Create systems for ensuring Northside's most important relationships remain engaged throughout the year — not simply when the organization is fundraising. Foundation & Corporate Partner Relations Maintain strong communication and relationships with grantors and foundation partners. Attend relevant grant workshops, community meetings, and development opportunities. Support the Executive Director in developing and maintaining corporate and community partnerships that benefit Northside Boxing Club and the North Minneapolis community. Identify creative partnership opportunities, including in-kind support, apparel, services, programming, and other organizational needs. Events & Campaign Execution Serve as the primary project manager for Northside Boxing Club fundraising events and campaigns. Own the details from concept through completion, including timelines, invitations, guest lists, vendors, sponsors, communications, logistics, donor engagement, and post-event follow-up. Work with the Executive Director to continually develop creative ways to bring supporters into the organization through events, dinners, tours, coffees, and community experiences. Board Communication & Coordination Serve as the primary staff point of contact for organized, proactive communication with Northside Boxing Club's Board of Directors. Prepare development updates, organizational information, meeting materials, and actionable follow-up items for board meetings. Track board commitments and opportunities for board members to support fundraising, introductions, events, and organizational initiatives. Ensure decisions and conversations from board meetings translate into clear next steps. Strategic Projects & Special Initiatives Support the Executive Director with special initiatives that advance Northside Boxing Club's mission. Help execute the continued branding, development, and growth of Northside Boxing Club's barbershop and barber school initiatives, with a focus on the revenue, sponsorship, and community-partnership opportunities they create. Research and develop potential partnerships, vendors, and in-kind opportunities that support these initiatives. Take ownership of growth-oriented special projects that don't fit neatly within one department but are important to the organization's success.
Note:
This role does not include grant writing or grant reporting. Northside Boxing Club's grant writer owns proposal writing and funder reporting; this role maintains the relationship and communication layer with grantors and foundations. Who We're Looking For A relationship manager and fundraiser at heart, with genuine comfort asking for and stewarding gifts. A natural "closer of loops" — after a donor or board conversation, already thinking about what was promised, who needs a follow-up, and what goes on the calendar. Exceptionally organized, with the discipline to run a $700K pipeline without things slipping. Comfortable and credible with major donors, board members, and foundation leaders. An excellent written and verbal communicator. A proactive self-starter who builds systems rather than waiting to be assigned tasks. Comfortable thinking beyond traditional fundraising toward broader revenue and growth opportunities, such as Northside's earned-revenue initiatives. Motivated by mission and genuinely invested in Northside Boxing Club's youth and community. What Success Looks Like Northside's fundraising pipeline is organized and actively managed. Donors and partners receive consistent, thoughtful communication. Every meaningful conversation results in documented follow-up. Events and campaigns run smoothly from start to finish. The Board is well-informed and its commitments are tracked. Strategic initiatives like the barbershop and barber school move forward with a clear owner and a connection back to revenue and community relationships. The Executive Director can focus on relationships, vision, and strategy, confident that the execution behind the $700,000 campaign — and the growth projects around it — is in capable
