has experienced steady, multi-year growth in both individual and institutional giving, reflecting strong community support and a proven model. Building on this momentum, OSG is prioritizing the growth of corporate partnerships as a core strategy for the next phase of fundraising and visibility. This is not a "build from scratch" role, but rather a chance to step into something that's working, and take it further. This role is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, stewarding donor relationships, leading grant development, and overseeing campaigns and events in support of our $2M budget goal. The Director of Development will work closely with the Executive Director, program staff, and the Board of Directors to strengthen existing revenue streams and develop new opportunities that increase visibility, deepen engagement, and support long-term sustainability.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising Strategy and Planning Develop and implement an annual and multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with OSG's growth and mission. Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to establish fundraising goals, priorities, and benchmarks. Own the development budget and track performance toward goals. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship Cultivate, steward, and solicit individual, corporate, and foundation donors. Develop and manage a portfolio of major donor prospects. Create compelling donor-facing materials, including appeals, cases for support, impact updates, and stewardship reports. Provide strategic oversight of social media and communications efforts to share the stories that deepen engagement. Grants and Institutional Giving Research funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government. Lead the preparation, writing, and submission of grant proposals. Manage grant reporting, compliance, and stewardship of institutional funders. Collaborate with program staff to gather data, stories, and evaluation materials needed for proposals and reports. Events and Campaigns Lead all fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals, monthly giving initiatives, and special events. Plan and execute fundraising and cultivation events in partnership with staff and volunteers. Support community-based engagement activities that build visibility and philanthropic support. Data Management and Reporting Use OSG's CRM, Neon One, to manage donor data and track engagement, ensure accurate record-keeping, and maintain high standards of data integrity. Work with finance on gift entry, acknowledgments, reporting, and compliance with fundraising best practices. Analyze trends, track metrics, and provide insights to inform strategy and forecasting. Leadership and Collaboration Serve as a member of OSG's leadership team, contributing to organizational planning and strategy. Provide regular development updates, dashboards, and reports to the Executive Director and Board. Foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization. Support Board members in their engagement with fundraising and donor outreach. Participate in other duties as assigned.WHAT YOU BRING
Deep prioritization of the well-being of others and passion for our mission. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5+ years of fundraising experience with a proven track record of cultivating resources. At least 2 years of experience leading fundraising for a nonprofit organization. Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, grant writing, and securing charitable gifts. Experience managing donor events and/or community engagement activities. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to craft compelling donor communications. Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Leadership experience or experience working with senior leadership and boards. Comfortable using a CRM platform (Neon One experience a plus). Experience in disability services, affordable housing, social services, or community-based nonprofit organizations preferred. Ability to work hybrid with personal laptop with camera/mic, cell phone and internet. Ability to work independently and asynchronously. This position is hybrid with on-site work in Northern Virginia.
