The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired SC (ABVI) empowers individuals who are blind or low vision to live fulfilling, purpose-driven lives. Through services provided across South Carolina, we help people gain independence, confidence, and opportunity. ABVI is seeking a dynamic and passionate Major Gifts Officer (MGO) to join our fundraising team. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, develop personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies, and collaborate closely with organizational leadership, board members, volunteers, and program staff to secure transformational philanthropic support. The MGO will play a critical role in strengthening ABVI's fundraising capacity while helping lay the foundation for future comprehensive and capital campaign initiatives. With offices in Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston , this position offers the flexibility of combining onsite and remote work. The role also includes travel throughout South Carolina to build meaningful donor relationships and connect supporters with ABVI's life-changing mission.

Responsibilities:

Manage and grow a portfolio of 100-150 major donors and prospects. Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of giving $5,000+ annually, focusing on gifts of $10,000+. Conduct 25+ meaningful donor visits and strategic contacts each month. Develop personalized donor engagement strategies and prepare proposals, presentations, and stewardship reports. Partner with ABVI leadership, board members, and volunteers to advance major gift opportunities and campaign readiness. Represent ABVI at donor meetings, community events, and fundraising activities throughout the state. Experience Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) and at least 5 years of successful fundraising experience. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and donor engagement skills. Strong organizational abilities with experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficiency with CRM systems and donor databases, plus willingness to travel throughout the state.
