Job Description:
Position Overview:
Every individual donor represents an opportunity to advance Prison Fellowship International's mission of bringing the hope, restoration, and transforming power of Jesus Christ to prisoners, their families, and victims of crime worldwide. The Director of Individual Giving is accountable for building and leading a comprehensive individual giving program that sustains and expands this mission through long-term, diversified donor investment. As PFI prepares for a major fundraising campaign within the next three years-and significant revenue growth is required to fuel global program expansion-the Director of Individual Giving plays a pivotal role in architecting the strategies, systems, and team capacity necessary for scale. This leader designs and drives a best-in-class Individual Giving program that fully integrates broad-based (community/mass) giving and donor acquisition with disciplined relationship fundraising across mid-level and major donors, strengthening the full donor life cycle from first gift to sustained partnership and principal-capacity readiness. By combining ROI-driven acquisition and direct response strategies with rigorously applied Veritus practices for mid-level and major giving, the Director of Individual Giving drives predictable revenue growth. Builds a donor ecosystem where mass, mid-level, and major giving reinforce one another. This role requires fluency across the entire individual-giving continuum-marketing-driven acquisition, upgrade strategy, and relationship management-ensuring that no segment operates in isolation. The Director of Individual Giving leads a multi-tier team, stewards a small strategic micro-portfolio, and partners closely with the Director of Donor Experience & Operations and Brand & Communications to deliver coordinated, timely, mission-rich donor journeys, supported by scalable systems that sustain future large-scale fundraising initiatives.
Core Responsibilities:
Revenue Ownership & Strategy (Broad-Based / Community, Mid-Level, Major, Principal-Pipeline Readiness) Own and deliver the Individual Giving revenue strategy across broad-based (community/mass),mid-level, and major donor segments, with accountability for year-over-year growth and long-term sustainability. Lead disciplined annual planning, forecasting, and in-year reforecasting with accuracy, visibility, and proactive strategic adjustment. Integrate direct response, digital, paid social, and lead-generation strategies with relationship-based fundraising to ensure strong acquisition, retention, and upgrade performance across the full donor lifecycle. Apply required Veritus practices across mid-level and major portfolios, including qualification, donor goals, Donor Engagement Plans (DEPs), cadence, solicitations, and stewardship. Principal-Pipeline Governance & Executive Engagement Own and govern the Individual Giving principal-capacity pipeline, ensuring donors with principal potential have clear movement strategies, active DEPs, and coordinated cultivation approaches. Maintain portfolio ownership and moves management for principal-capacity donors within Individual Giving while engaging the VP and CEO strategically in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship as appropriate. Design and coordinate executive involvement in principal gift strategy, including briefing materials, engagement sequencing, proposals, stewardship, and follow-up. Ensure flawless execution for principal-level donor engagements involving executive leadership, without transferring portfolio ownership or accountability. Team Leadership & Supervision Lead, supervise, and develop leaders across Individual Giving, including Senior Director of Major Gifts, Mid-Level Gift Officer, Senior Manager of Community (Broad-Based) Giving, and Prospect Research/Prospecting. Establish and enforce consistent standards across all IG teams for qualification, donor goals, DEP cadence, moves management, reporting, donor offer development, and stewardship. Conduct regular pipeline reviews, performance coaching, and talent development to build bench strength and long-term team capacity. Donor Acquisition & Lifecycle Development Lead donor acquisition strategies across direct response, digital, and paid channels with disciplined ROI analysis and performance optimization. Design and manage upgrade pathways across the donor lifecycle (broad-based ? mid-level ?major ? principal pipeline), ensuring integration between marketing-driven and relationship-driven fundraising. Ensure acquisition, retention, and upgrade strategies are informed by donor behavior, testing, and data-driven insights. Donor Experience, Journeys & Stewardship Partner with the Director of Donor Experience & Operations to deliver timely, accurate, personalized, and mission-rich donor journeys, acknowledgments, and reporting across Individual Giving. Collaborate with Brand & Communications to align donor offers, campaigns, and storytelling with PFI's mission, brand standards, and global impact narratives across all donor segments. Research, Prospecting & Intelligence Lead Prospect Research and Prospecting functions for Individual Giving to drive proactive identification, prioritization, and qualification of donors. Ensure CRM discipline, data hygiene, and timely documentation across all Individual Giving portfolios. Budget Management Manage the Individual Giving budget within Development-approved parameters. Steward investments across acquisition, donor journeys, staffing, and major-donor priorities with a clear ROI and long-term value lens. Campaign Readiness Prepare the Individual Giving system for a future comprehensive fundraising campaign by strengthening upgrade pathways, building multi-year pipeline depth, and ensuring donor journeys, reporting, and staffing models are scalable and campaign-ready.
Requirements:
Demonstrated mastery across the full Individual Giving continuum, including broad-based(community/mass) giving, donor acquisition and direct response, mid-level, and major giving.
