Job Description

Title:
Director, Resource Development & Partnerships (RD)
Reports To:
Executive Director/CEO Direct supervision, coaching, and support provided by the Senior Director, Community Impact & Opportunity.
Status:
Full Time, Exempt Schedule:
Regular office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. However, this position requires attendance at certain events taking place outside of regular business hours with evening and weekend work required. Flex time is available for hours worked more than the 37.5-hour regular work week, at the discretion and prior approval of the Executive Director. This position is not remote-eligible. Responsibilities Overview Reporting directly to the Executive Director/CEO, the Director, Resource Development & Partnerships manages fundraising and development for United Way of the River Cities, Inc. and United Way of the River Cities Foundation, Inc. The Director develops fundraising strategies; cultivates donor and corporate relationships; solicits individual donations, corporate gifts, and sponsorships; manages sponsorship recognition; pursues grant, foundation, philanthropic, and government funding opportunities; maintains donor relationship and campaign information in the agency's CRM; and plans fundraising events. Direct supervision, coaching, and support are provided by the Senior Director, Community Impact & Opportunity. The position contributes to the Community Opportunity Plan within Community Leadership and provides direct supervision, coaching, and support to the Director, Marketing & Engagement. The Executive Director/CEO retains overall employee performance accountability. The Director, Resource Development & Partnerships is expected to be a positive representative of the agency who treats others with compassion, kindness, and respect and embraces an attitude of "servant leadership" in all aspects of their work. Essential Duties Strategic Planning
  • Creates both short
  • and long-term plans for all aspects of Resource Development in alignment with the Community Opportunity Plan.
This includes, but is not limited to, creating annual resource development budgets; creating multi-year growth strategies based on current and historical CRM data; researching and implementing best practices for donor communication; building and maintaining key community and corporate relationships; developing a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects and managing fundraising strategies for these donors; identifying grant, foundation, philanthropic, and government funding opportunities aligned with United Way's work; and ensuring Resource Development transparency and communication with United Way of the River Cities donors, employees and members of the Board of Directors. Annual Campaign Planning and Implementation
  • Plans and executes a strategic, annual fundraising campaign that leverages community and corporate relationships and utilizes data to help achieve and exceed campaign fundraising goals.
Engages a volunteer Campaign Chairperson and volunteer Workplace Ambassadors to ensure expanded reach and campaign success. Conducts annual "quiet" campaign for United Way of the River Cities Foundation by partnering with attorneys and financial advisors. Corporate Sponsorships
  • Makes direct appeals for corporate sponsorships of agency initiatives and projects and manages corporate sponsorship recognition. Grant, Foundation, and Government Funding

  • Maintains accurate donor contact information, cultivation activity, campaign assignments, and fundraising projections in the agency's CRM.
Uses reports to monitor fundraising results and guide donor follow-up. Provides complete donation and pledge documentation to the Operations Coordinator, who processes donations, pledges, and payments and maintains the related financial records under the supervision of the Senior Director of Finance & Operations/CFO. Works with the Operations Coordinator and CFO to resolve discrepancies. UWRC Leadership and Management
  • Participates in the Executive Director's Cabinet and Staff Planning Team.
Contributes to developing, implementing, and evaluating the Community Opportunity Plan under the direct supervision, coaching, and support of the Senior Director, Community Impact & Opportunity. Provides direct supervision, coaching, and support to the Director, Marketing & Engagement and coordinates fundraising, partnerships, marketing, and engagement activities. Works cooperatively across Community Leadership and Organizational Stewardship to support reporting, messaging, fundraising, and organizational goals. Supports employee performance management in coordination with the assigned Senior Director and Executive Director/CEO, who retains overall performance accountability. These job responsibilities are to be the main emphasis of this position. As with every job at United Way, it is not possible to define jobs precisely. Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social services, management, administration, or a related field from an accredited university plus 2-5 years progressive work experience
  • A verifiable record of fundraising and/or sales success.
  • Experience in building revenue and/or increasing philanthropic support.
  • Successful experience with grant writing and grant management.
  • Ability to command the confidence and respect of stakeholders.
  • High-level intelligence and intellectual curiosity and a desire to explore new ideas and innovative approaches to solving problems.
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills, high levels of self-direction, time management, and orientation to achieve results.
  • Experience in developing partnerships, building teams and conflict management
  • Experience working and interacting with volunteers and diverse boards.
  • Employee or volunteer management experience.
  • Expertise on issues relevant to the organization.
  • Experience in or across multiple sectors, including nonprofit, public and corporate.
  • A demonstrated record of promoting collaboration with the community at large. Skill Requirements
  • Proficient in using Microsoft 365 programs, with a willingness and ability to learn to utilize new software and platforms, including artificial intelligence.
  • Experience with data collection and database use and willingness to learn and to achieve mastery of United Way of the River Cities, Inc.'s customer relationship management (CRM) and financial management software.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with donors and others in the community representing a broad range of interests and backgrounds.
  • Ease and proficiency with presentation skills both one-on-one and publicly.
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret complex materials.
  • Able to work with limited supervision, take initiative and think strategically
  • strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Superior project planning and event management skills.

Mental Demands Duties require planning, organizing, and performing a variety of duties applying a wide range of procedures and rules. Duties require attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, reliability, timeliness, alertness, and use of good judgment. Requires ability in verbal and written expression, creativity, and concentration. Involves access to and use of confidential data where discretion/sensitivity is of utmost importance. Mature judgment and confidence. Physical demands Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. Frequently required to work with a computer. Occasionally required to stand, reach, stoop, and handle and/or lift up to twenty-five pounds. Must be able to visibly check for completion and accuracy and to retrieve and transmit information. Travel and Time Requirements To fulfill the responsibilities of the position, travel within the six-county service area, as well as outside the area, is required. Employee must possess a valid "Real ID" driver's license issued by West Virginia, Ohio, or Kentucky and availability of a reliable vehicle daily. Overnight and out of state travel may be required. The nature of UWRC's business requires work outside of normal business hours. Employees must be prepared to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends when needed.

$65,000.00
