Job Description

About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and organized Family Development Specialist to work directly with individuals and families to identify needs, establish goals, connect them with resources, and support their progress toward stability and self-sufficiency. The Family Development Specialist builds trusting relationships with families, provides consistent follow-up, maintains accurate documentation, and helps clients navigate challenges and access appropriate community resources. The ideal candidate is approachable, patient, respectful, adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to helping individuals and families achieve positive outcomes. Key Responsibilities Manage assigned family and client cases with professionalism, compassion, and respect. Assess individual and family needs, strengths, barriers, risks, and available supports. Work collaboratively with families to establish meaningful and achievable goals. Develop and follow individualized action plans with clients. Connect individuals and families with community resources and supportive services. Provide follow-up to ensure referrals, appointments, and action plans are progressing as planned. Monitor client and family stability and identify changes or potential risks requiring attention. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case notes and documentation. Communicate effectively with clients, families, community partners, service providers, and team members. Use active listening and problem-solving skills to help families overcome barriers. Encourage client participation, independence, and progress toward established goals. Build positive, professional, and trusting relationships with individuals and families. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality. Use case-management software, email, internet, and other technology to document and coordinate services. Participate in team meetings, training, and other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication and active listening skills. Ability to organize and manage multiple cases, responsibilities, and deadlines. Ability to document information accurately and maintain confidentiality. Basic computer skills, including email and internet use. Ability to establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships with individuals and families. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Preferred Experience helping individuals or families through customer service, nonprofit services, community work, healthcare, education, case support, or a similar setting. Additional education in human services, social work, family services, behavioral health, education, or a related field. Experience with case-management software or electronic client records. Experience connecting clients with community resources and supportive services. The Family Development Specialist must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach as needed. Use a computer and telephone regularly. Travel locally to meet client and program needs. Work effectively in office and community-based environments. Operate standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, scanners, and copiers.
