Job:
The Director of Expanded Learning leads the expanded learning team at the Children's Initiative and supports the efforts of the San Diego County Expanded Learning Consortium. This position works closely in collaboration with the San Diego County Office of Education, local school districts, school partners and community-based organizations to improve and build capacity of expanded learning programs in San Diego County. The Director of Expanded Learning must possess internal motivation and demonstrate integrity, a strong work ethic and the willingness to learn. The Director of Expanded Learning must have the ability to multi-task with ease, be creative and innovative; with strong written and verbal skills. This position requires a passionate individual who demonstrates a commitment to support children and families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director of Expanded Learning will perform a wide variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: Provide leadership and management to the expanded learning team Effectively manage and coordinate multiple grants and contracts simultaneously In partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education and/or local school districts, develop and coordinate professional development for expanded learning program providers and school/district personnel Convene and professionally facilitate meetings of the San Diego Expanded Learning Consortium and District Contacts Develop partnerships and maintain communication/outreach with school district leaders, expanded learning providers/staff, community partners, consultants, government entities and local businesses Conduct site visits to state/ federal funded expanded learning programs to identify technical assistance and resource needs; prepare detailed comprehensive reports Research, identify and disseminate relevant information and promising practices to program partners, including but not limited to funding opportunities, in-kind resources, events and trainings Provide oversight and successfully manage all expanded learning related projects; including but not limited to: Educational Programs, Professional Development, Donations, etc. Develop and implement professional development conference(s) Develop the San Diego Expanded Learning Consortium annual highlight video Develop and publish the San Diego Expanded Learning Consortium Annual Report In partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education, oversee application process for new and/or continued funding Attends meetings and serve on committees relating to expanded learning as directed Assists with other projects as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Honest, strong work ethic and a cooperative and positive attitude Sense of urgency and commitment to follow through and complete all needed duties and tasks Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and/or extensive experience in expanded learning program development Knowledge and understanding of child/youth development and best practices for expanded learning programs Motivated to lead and set professional standards; with the ability to support, coach and supervise employees Demonstrate creativity, innovation and motivation in designing new projects Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize duties, anticipate steps to complete tasks and see projects to completion with minimal supervision Strong project management and organizational skills Keen attention to detail and aspiration to excellence Advanced communication skills (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills Strong proficiency and ability to use Zoom, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Knowledge and experience using diplomacy and collaborative problem solving Ability to deal with issues efficiently and competently from the school site to the State Senate Must maintain reliable transportation, possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance Willingness to work flexible hours Ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five pounds Knowledge of and ability to use Google Docs and Canva (Preferred)

The Director of Expanded Learning reports directly to the
Operations Director Compensation:
Salary range (based on experience): $63,000 - $68,000 ($30.29/hr. - $32.70 /hr.). Benefits include health, dental, vision and life insurance. Divided sick and vacation time, 403b (with percentage match) and health flexible spending account.
