Development Officer

Overview Make A Difference Rescue is a nonprofit animal shelter dedicated to saving dogs in need and giving them a second chance at life. We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Development Officer to help grow and sustain our fundraising efforts. This role is ideal for someone who believes in mission-driven work, loves building relationships, and understands that fundraising is about connection—not pressure. Responsibilities Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and donor appeals Build and maintain relationships with individual donors and supporters Manage donor acknowledgments, thank-you letters, and updates Research, write, and submit grant applications Assist with fundraising events and community outreach Maintain donor records and track fundraising progress Collaborate with leadership on fundraising strategy and storytelling Qualifications Passion for animal welfare and nonprofit work Experience in fundraising, development, donor relations, or grants (preferred) Strong written and verbal communication skills Organized, reliable, and self-motivated Comfortable asking for donations and building donor relationships Experience with donor databases, email campaigns, or CRM systems a plus Knowledge of Wills, trusts & estate law is a plus but not required. Degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications or related field preferred; university experience is advantageous.
