Whether you're coordinating due diligence, preparing financing applications, or helping navigate a project to financial closing, your work will directly contribute to creating communities that improve people's lives. Primary Responsibilities Working closely with company leadership, the Development Associate will assist in all phases of the development process across North Carolina and South Carolina, including: Development & Due Diligence

  • Support the identification and evaluation of prospective development opportunities.
  • Coordinate due diligence activities.
  • Maintain project schedules and track key milestones. Financing & Transaction Execution
  • Participate in the preparation of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) applications and other financing applications.
  • Coordinate materials required for debt, equity, and public funding sources.
  • Support financial closings by organizing due diligence materials and coordinating with lenders, investors, attorneys, and consultants.
  • Assist in transitioning projects into construction and asset management. Municipal & Consultant Coordination
  • Coordinate with municipalities, regulatory agencies, and others to obtain building permits.
  • Assist with zoning, permitting, and entitlement processes.
  • Prepare materials for public meetings, municipal approvals, and funding applications. Project Administration
  • Maintain organized project files and development documentation.
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Qualified Allocation Plans (QAPs) Qualifications We're seeking someone who is excited to contribute to a collaborative development team and grow professionally in affordable housing development.
Successful candidates will typically possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in real estate, finance, planning, business, engineering, public administration, construction management, law, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
  • Initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.

Experience in affordable housing, commercial real estate, planning, finance, construction, municipal government, law, or other related fields is preferred but not required. Paralegal experience is also highly valued, particularly for candidates with experience managing complex processes, documentation, deadlines, and multiple stakeholders. The position may be based out of either our Greenville, NC or Apex, NC office, with flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement. Some limited travel may be required.
