Job Description

Summary:
We are seeking a Grant Writer and Volunteer Coordinator to expand the outreach and impact of American Children's Home. Leverage your expertise in grant funding, proposal development, and volunteer engagement to advance our mission. Your strategic approach and persuasive communication skills will directly contribute to securing essential funding and fostering a network of volunteers to support our foster care, residential, and child development programs.
Responsibilities:
Research potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other non-profit funding sources aligned with department goals. Develop, write, and submit detailed grant proposals, including budgets, project descriptions, and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with funder requirements. Manage all stages of the grant process, from initial application to final reporting, while monitoring key deadlines. Utilize database to maintain precise, confidential, and comprehensive records of awarded grants, submitted reports, and volunteer engagement. Coordinate volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling to support our programs and community engagement. Host volunteers on campus and serve as the primary contact. Share volunteer activities, stories, and photos with the Communications Coordinator to produce engaging content for on-line communications, newsletters, and outreach materials that highlight participation opportunities and community impact. Collaborate with agency leadership and program staff to align grant objectives with organizational activities and needs. Assist in strategic planning of future funding opportunities for sustainability and growth.
Skills:
Proven experience in grant proposal writing, including persuasive writing techniques and technical writing skills tailored for funders. Strong knowledge of nonprofit governance and regulatory compliance, grant management systems, and database platforms. Expertise in researching grant funding opportunities and conducting financial report writing to meet funder expectations. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Demonstrated ability in contract management, content editing, proofreading, and developing compelling grant cases that clearly articulate organizational needs. Financial Literacy in detailing project budgets and writing post-award financial reports. Familiarity with program development and strategic planning is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
Grant Professional Certified (GPC) or a portfolio of prior written proposals and successful grant awards highly preferred. Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing, or public administration preferred. 2+ yrs. experience in a comparable/transferable role. Nonprofit experience is preferred. Experience working with volunteers and managing volunteer scheduling. Familiarity with donor software or similar programs is a plus. Valid driver's license and acceptable safe driving record must be maintained.
