Job Description

Since its founding in 1951, the Frostig School has become a nationally and internationally recognized leader in the field, committed to fostering success for children with diverse learning needs. Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Advancement/Development, the Grants Manager will translate visions, strategies, and action plans into fundamental proposals while cultivating funder relationships, proactively identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities. They will assist in the overall support of the Development Department as it relates to special projects, records, events, and administration.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(INCLUDEBUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING
): Grant Writing & Proposal Development Lead and manage all aspects of grant proposal development, including letters of inquiry, applications, renewals, and grant reports. Translate organizational goals, program strategies, outcomes, and impact into clear, compelling, and competitive funding proposals. Work closely with staff to gather information, develop narratives, establish measurable outcomes, and ensure accurate budgets. Ensure proposals and reports are accurate, timely, compliant with funder requirements, and aligned with organizational priorities. Develop and maintain proposal templates, organizational language, program descriptions, statistics, and other materials that support efficient proposal development. Grant Prospecting & New Funding Development Proactively research, identify, and pursue new grant opportunities not limited to; foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other institutional funders. Maintain an active pipeline of prospective funders and continuously identify opportunities that align with the organization's mission and funding needs. Identify emerging funding opportunities and communicate recommendations and potential prospects to the Development Director. Track prospective funders and move qualified opportunities through the grant pipeline from research and cultivation through application, award, and stewardship. Grant Funder Relations & Stewardship Serve as a liaison to funders. Ensure appropriate acknowledgement and stewardship of grant awards. Maintain positive and professional relationships with current and prospective funders. Monitor funder requirements and ensure timely submission of reports, renewals, and other requested materials. Grant Administration & Compliance Maintain an accurate and comprehensive grant calendar, including proposal deadlines, reporting requirements, renewal dates, and stewardship activities. Maintain organized paper and electronic grant files and records. Update grant records and prospect information in Bloomerang. Generate and maintain grant revenue projections in collaboration with the Development Director. Track grant status, applications, awards, reporting requirements, and funding outcomes. Ensure grant-related documentation is organized and readily available for audits, reporting, and organizational planning. Development Department Support Contribute to continuous improvement of the organization's grant research, writing, tracking, and stewardship processes. Assist with Development Department special projects, events and initiatives as needed. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills) Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably with a non-profit organization. Proven track record in grant writing, program development and securing new funding opportunities. Excellent writing, editing, research, communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, persuasive narratives. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities, deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail while ability to follow instructions is imperative. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, community stakeholders, funders, and organizational leadership. Ability to interpret program information, data, budgets, outcomes, and funding guidelines. Proficiency with donor or grant management databases/CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
