Nonprofit Offering Aid To People Experiencing Homelessness Job Summary The Chief Development Officer is a new position, serving on TOOF's Executive Leadership Team at a pivotal moment of organizational growth. As TOOF prepares for an extensive expansion in emergency shelter services over the next three years, this role will lead the strategic visioning and execution of a robust philanthropic giving program needed to sustain TOOF's next chapter of impact. The position is responsible for building the systems, culture, donor relationships, and communications infrastructure necessary to grow philanthropy, deepen stakeholder investment, and position TOOF as a leading community-based response to homelessness in Central Texas. The position owns the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy for external relationship management, including philanthropy, donor engagement, marketing, branding, and communications. This scope does not include government affairs, legislative advocacy, or public-sector contract management. This position is supported by a Communications Manager, responsible for the execution of a strategic communications plan and the Hospitality, Engagement Manager, who is responsible for executing on recurring and mid-level gift programs and a contracted grant writer. With the support of the Executive Team, and an engaged Board of Directors, the Chief Development Officer will translate TOOF's growth, impact, and vision for Esperanza II into clear, compelling narratives that inspire philanthropic investment, strengthen stakeholder confidence, and build broad public understanding of TOOF's mission and model. Fund Development Strategy - Develop and execute a comprehensive multi-year fund development strategy, aligned with organizational goals and strategic priorities. This plan should include a diversified revenue portfolio including individual donors, foundations, corporations, faith communities, events, sponsorships, and planned giving. o Create and oversee annual fundraising plans, campaign strategies, and donor pipeline development, from a diversified revenue portfolio. o Establish revenue forecasts and performance metrics to monitor fundraising trends and identify emerging opportunities for growth. Major Gifts and Relationship Management - Personally manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, using customized engagement plans to achieve transformational gifts. o Lead solicitation efforts for six-figure and seven-figure philanthropic investments, building prospect profiles and strategic cultivation plans. o Build strategic relationships with foundations, corporate leaders, philanthropists, and community partners, serving as a senior ambassador and spokesperson for TOOF. Campaigns and Capital Planning o Lead preparation and execution of major fundraising initiatives and capital campaigns. o Develop campaign strategies, infrastructure, and prospect pipelines, utilizing external resources as appropriate. o Oversee campaign communications and stewardship strategies. o Work closely with executive leadership and board members to secure campaign commitments. Marketing, Communications, and Brand Strategy o Provide strategic oversight to the development of a communications strategy that advances fundraising goals and organizational priorities. o Ensure the team utilizes consistent messaging, branding, storytelling, and public-facing content across media, publications, websites, and digital platforms. o Ensure communications clearly communicate TOOF's impact and strategic vision while supporting donor acquisition, retention, engagement, and stewardship. o Oversee annual reports, campaign materials, newsletters, impact reports, and digital content. Data, Reporting, and Stewardship - Establish and maintain fundraising dashboards, to provide regular reports to executive leadership and the Board of Directors. o Track donor retention, pipeline performance, revenue forecasts, and campaign outcomes. o Use donor data to strengthen stewardship, guide decisions, and improve fundraising performance. Executive Leadership - Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, participating in organizational strategic planning, annual budget development, and long-term sustainability planning. o Partner with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and relevant committees to set fundraising priorities and engagement strategies. o Collaborate with the rest of the Executive Team to align initiatives with organizational priorities. Providing recommendations to executive leadership regarding growth opportunities, external partnerships, public positioning, and philanthropic risks. o Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization and ensure fundraising policies and procedures reflect current nonprofit best practices. o Perform other related duties as requested Department Leadership - Inspire, guide, and motivate team members, utilizing a coaching model to provide a healthy and supportive work environment. o Lead, coach, and support team members through regular supervision, training, performance evaluation, and ongoing feedback. o Develop rising talent across departments and foster collaborative, adaptive team leadership. o Set departmental performance measures and monitor progress against organizational and team goals. o Ensure effective use of data systems, donor management tools, and fundraising analytics. Minimum Qualifications and Skills 4+ years experience leading fundraising strategy for organizations with annual budgets exceeding $10 million. Demonstrated success developing major gift programs or capital campaigns. Demonstrated success running multi-channel public fundraising campaigns, ranging from donor acquisition, supporter engagement, legacy marketing, and administration. Proficiency in CRM software to track, analyze, communicate, and act on donor data. (Proficiency in Every Action preferred) Experience managing staff and organizational budgets. Strong executive presence and relationship-building skills. Exceptional written, verbal, and public speaking abilities. Valid Driver's License and ability to be insured by our carrier Preferred Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, non-profit management business administration or a related field preferred.
