Commensurate with experience.Job Description Summary:
The Senior Research Development Officer provides strategic leadership for large-scale research development initiatives across TAMUS member institutions. The position serves as a senior advisor to faculty, research leadership, and institutional stakeholders to increase competitiveness for federal, foundation, industry, and philanthropic funding opportunities.Responsibilities:
- Draft, edit, and refine proposal narratives for federal, foundation, and industry sponsors.
- Collaborate with faculty to articulate compelling research impact, innovation, and broader impacts.
- Review proposals for compliance with sponsor guidelines and evaluation criteria.
- Develop boilerplate content, institutional descriptions, and shared proposal resources.
- Coordinate proposal timelines and writing schedules.
- Provide writing workshops and grantsmanship training.
- Support development of white papers, concept papers, and strategic research communications.
- Maintain quality assurance processes for major proposal submissions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree.
- Four years of grant writing, scientific editing, or research communications experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated success with funded federal proposals.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and project management skills.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to independently make decisions.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree.
