3005091034-2 Apply for this job now Job Description Calpine Corporation is seeking a General Plant Manager to lead safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a gas-fired or geothermal power plant. You will oversee all plant activities, including operations, maintenance, and compliance, ensuring high availability and adherence to strict safety and environmental standards. Partnering with a skilled team, you'll use data-driven metrics to optimize performance, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cleaner energy, grid reliability, and innovation within a leading independent power producer. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the power generation plant to ensure safe, reliable output Lead and develop plant staff, fostering a culture of safety, integrity, and accountability Manage plant performance using data-driven metrics and continuous improvement methods Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and corporate standards Optimize maintenance planning, outages, and asset integrity for high availability Develop and manage plant budget, cost controls, and operational efficiency initiatives Coordinate with market operations and grid partners to meet reliability requirements Implement and monitor safety programs, training, and incident prevention practices Drive operational excellence and innovation in processes, technology, and reporting Partner with corporate leadership on long-term planning, capital projects, and sustainability goals Required Skills Power plant operations management Maintenance and reliability planning Budgeting and cost control Environmental and regulatory compliance Safety management and OSHA knowledge Data analysis and performance metrics (KPIs) CMMS and asset management systems Leadership and team development Root cause analysis and continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) Grid and market operations familiarity
