Job Description
Anthem Mechanical is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the daily operations and financial performance of our established HVAC and plumbing company serving the Coachella Valley. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for company profitability, employees, dispatch, field operations, sales performance, customer service, and operational improvement. The General Manager will report directly to the owner and will have the authority necessary to run the company's day-to-day operations. We are looking for a proven home-services operator—not simply an experienced HVAC technician. The right candidate must understand financial statements, profit and loss management, dispatch, service sales, field productivity, staffing, and performance accountability. Primary Responsibilities Take responsibility for the company's operating profit and loss performance. Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and operating goals. Lead HVAC service, HVAC installation, plumbing, sales, dispatch, and customer-service operations. Manage office personnel, field leadership, sales personnel, technicians, plumbers, and installers through appropriate supervisors and team leads. Establish and monitor weekly and monthly performance indicators. Improve call-booking rates, technician productivity, average service tickets, replacement lead generation, sales close rates, gross margins, and schedule utilization. Reduce callbacks, warranty costs, overtime, unproductive labor, and customer complaints. Recruit, hire, coach, evaluate, discipline, and retain employees. Maintain pricing, purchasing, inventory, fleet, and job-costing controls. Review marketing performance and customer-acquisition costs. Resolve escalated customer and employee matters. Maintain strong safety, quality-control, and regulatory practices. Provide the owner with a concise weekly scorecard and practical corrective-action plans. Evaluate Anthem Mechanical's field-management structure during the first 60 days and recommend the most effective organization for the company. Required Qualifications At least five years of management experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or another home-services business. Direct responsibility for a business unit, branch, or company generating at least $3.5 million in annual revenue. Demonstrated responsibility for profit and loss performance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial results. Experience managing office, dispatch, sales, and field operations. Strong understanding of residential service and replacement economics. Experience managing technicians, installers, salespeople, and administrative employees. Ability to analyze operating data and convert it into specific corrective actions. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and decision-making skills. Ability to work full-time in the Coachella Valley. Preferred Qualifications Experience helping grow a home-services business from approximately $3.5 million to $6 million or more. Residential HVAC service and replacement experience. Plumbing operations experience. Experience with ServiceTitan or a comparable field-service management platform. Knowledge of the Southern California home-services market. Experience developing a working field manager or player-coach management structure. Compensation Base salary of $105,000-$125,000, depending on experience. Annual performance-bonus opportunity. Target total annual compensation of approximately $130,000-$175,000. Performance incentives will be based primarily on profitability, with additional consideration given to revenue growth, gross margin, operational performance, customer service, and employee development. Company vehicle or vehicle allowance, fuel, phone, computer, health coverage, paid time off, and other benefits will be discussed as part of the final employment package. What Success Looks Like The successful General Manager will: Improve profitability and cash generation. Produce profitable—not merely top-line—revenue growth. Create consistent accountability throughout the organization. Improve dispatch effectiveness and technician productivity. Strengthen sales performance without sacrificing margins or customer trust. Reduce callbacks, warranty expenses, overtime, and operational waste. Develop reliable department leaders and a strong company culture. Allow the owner to focus on strategy, capital, banking, and long-term company direction instead of daily operational issues.
