Assistant General Manager - Auto Dealership EpikSun Motors | La Mesa, CA Full-Time Build Your Career. Learn Every Aspect of the Used Car Business. Have you built a successful career in sales, finance, service, or inventory management but always wanted to learn how an entire independent dealership operates? This is that opportunity. At EpikSun Motors, we're not a large corporate dealership where employees are limited to one department. We're a small, close-knit team where everyone contributes to the dealership's success. You'll work directly with ownership, make meaningful decisions, and gain hands-on experience in every part of the business. Our dealership maintains a carefully selected inventory of 50-60 quality pre-owned vehicles , allowing us to focus on quality, customer service, and operational excellence instead of high-volume bureaucracy. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated, takes initiative, enjoys solving problems, and wants to grow into a future General Manager or dealership owner. Your Responsibilities:
Vehicle Acquisition- Purchase quality inventory from dealer auctions, online marketplaces, wholesalers, and private-party sellers.
- Evaluate vehicles based on condition, market demand, and profitability.
- Negotiate purchases and manage transportation logistics.
- Monitor inventory levels and aging to maintain a healthy inventory mix. Reconditioning & Inventory Management
- Manage the complete reconditioning process from acquisition to front-line ready.
- Coordinate daily work with the reconditioning technician and outside vendors.
- Order parts while balancing quality, cost, and turnaround time.
- Track repair costs and maintain vehicle profitability.
- Prioritize vehicles to maximize inventory turn.
- Develop and execute strategies to prepare aged inventory for wholesale or auction , including estimating repairs, determining auction readiness, and coordinating transportation. Sales & Customer Experience
- Respond to phone calls, internet leads, text messages, and walk-in customers.
- Build relationships through honest, consultative sales.
- Conduct vehicle demonstrations and test drives.
- Guide customers through the entire purchase experience.
- Deliver exceptional customer service before, during, and after the sale.
- Maintain CRM follow-up and lead management. Finance & Insurance (F&I)
- Assist customers with credit applications.
- Present financing options tailored to each customer's needs.
- Work with lending partners to obtain competitive approvals.
- Explain loan terms and available protection products.
- Assist customers with Insurance products such as GAP and extended warranties.
- Ensure all finance documentation is accurate and compliant. Operations & Administration
- Assist in supervising part-time sales staff.
- Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready deal jackets.
- Ensure compliance with California DMV, FTC, lender, and dealership requirements.
- Help improve dealership processes and daily operations.
- Ensure Flooring lines are utilized effectively and cash flow is maximized
- Support ownership with reporting, inventory management, and operational improvements.

Is a self-starter who takes ownership of responsibilities Enjoys wearing multiple hats Thrives in a small business environment Has excellent customer service and communication skills Is highly organized and detail-oriented Can prioritize work independently Wants to grow into a dealership leadership role Brings a positive attitude and strong work ethic every day Qualifications Required- Minimum 2-3 years of automotive dealership experience in at least one of the following: Sales, Finance (F&I), Vehicle purchasing, Service or reconditioning, Inventory management
- Experience preparing aged inventory for wholesale or dealer auctions
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work every Saturday, the busiest day at the dealership Preferred
- Independent dealership experience
- Auction buying experience (Manheim, ADESA, ACV, etc.)
- Familiarity with DMS, CRM, such as Dealercenter, Dealersync, RouteOne, Dealertrack, Frazer, or similar dealership software
- Knowledge of California DMV paperwork and dealership compliance
- Spanish speaking is a plus Compensation & Benefits We believe in rewarding performance.
Compensation includes:
- Commission on retail vehicle sales
- Commission on F&I products sold
- Annual performance bonus based on dealership and individual performance
